I'm not really sure about the tone here. We've got Drizzt, Bruenor and so on (I presume) and yet this we have people giving the finger as they sink into lava, giants (?!) with jamming on guitars, heavy-metal style and so on. I mean it's kind of fun but kind of weird.

I have to say that it looks fun but looks very much more AA rather than AAA which was the original ambition. Still, maybe they're delaying going for an AAA-style game until they have more people at the studio.

My thoughts exactly. I'm hoping that all of that tone was just their idea of "creative" marketing.
It wouldn't be entirely out-of-keeping with the original Dark Alliance games, which were a little bit silly and involved characters shit-talking each other and stuff IIRC, maybe even some meta-commentary/4th-wall breaks. But it's weird to pair that with relatively serious characters from the novels like Drizzt and his buds, instead of some made-up characters.

The original two Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance games were not AAA either, but they was a lot of fun to play back in the day on my PS2. If this one is similar, then if should be just as fun on my PS4.

While it still could be fun as heck, I can't help but feel that it looks more like a previous gen than a next gen game.

But speaking of previous gen systems, one detail I was glad to note (with the PS5 still in short supply), anyone that purchases Dark Alliance on PS4 will get a free download code for it on the PS5.

@Morrus This article on IGN includes a making-of video and a longer game-play video:

Reminds me of my last game session.
