Gaming W/Jemal: Legends (3.5e d&D) *Recruitment Closed*

Hey Void...still interested in background ties?

I think I'm about done with the mechanics...I was thinking it'd be fun to discuss some RP stuff now. :)
Sure. I was thinking that as kids Sigil might have been the 'wild one' always getting in trouble, possibly due to 'imaginary' friends. If that sounds OK, Kaethrynne would stand in stark contrast to that. As a kid K. would have been obedient and primarily concerned with attracting a husband and starting a family.

In any case, Kaethrynne will be emotionally switched off after returning from the afterlife. She'll be taciturn and dark, but eager to martyr herself to protect others.

Did you have any ideas about social class, or other similar background factors?

just a quick question to those who have played more epic games than myself.. which is like 2.. lol...

When one is multi-classed like I am (fighter10/barbarian10) how does advancement go.... do I still gain levels in reg fighter and barbarian levels or do I start advancing as an epic fighter or epic barbarian levels listed and the progressions in the epic level handbook?

can you tell I don't multiclass very often? LOL

You gain Class Abilities as normal until your respective class breaches into Epic (ex. Fighter 21), at which point it begins following the Epic guidelines, though even that doesn't change for most classes. The second you hit Level 21, you cease following the standard BAB and Saves nonsense, and use the Epic Guidelines in the Epic Level Handbook from then on for those. That's pretty much it, albeit in a highly simplified form.

You would either have to keep progressing in regular fighter or barbarian, or you could pick up an epic PrC possibly, depending on how Jemal does that kind of thing.

You can't progress as an "epic" class until your class level in that class = 20. For PrC's you can't progress as "epic" unless 1) the PrC is a 10 level, 2) you ARE 10th level in the class & 3) your total levels = 20

I.e. a Ftr 20, could go epic Fighter 21. You a Ftr 10/Bbn 10 would have to go Ftr 11/Bbn 10 or vice versa or pick up a PrC (either epic or not)

A wizard 10/Loremaster 10 could advance as an "epic" Loremaster to Wiz 10/LM 11, but a Wiz 11/LM 9 would have to go either Wiz 12/LM 9 or Wiz 11/LM 10...

Let me know if this confused you!

Salthorae: I've been pondering character ties, both for the crafting of my characters items, and the enrichment of the RP section of this game. I was thinking of a storyline tie in between your character and mine in the form of a large scale battle involving Chevik's church in which Oroz's militia is ordered to assist. The two meet between the fighting, become friends and Chevik volenteers to provide Oroz with replacements for his worn out gear to assist with the fighting. Years later when Oroz is forced to leave the militia, he seeks out Chevik again in order to gain new wonderous items to allow him to complete his quest.

Without any background information on Chevik, this is what I came up with. If you have any insight on this topic, please share it.

Feel free and post whatever you've got right now, I'm sure someone will be willing and able to help you out with suggestions/nitpicking. :)

Rpgramen - I'd still suggest against writing it as 19HD. There are several things that affect/base off HD specifically, such as for example Holy Word (and it's other-aligned counterparts), so your Actual HD does matter.

To make it official, though others have allready answered the question well:
Your levels would advance as normal, save that you wouldn't gain the 'normal' base save/Base Attack bonus, instead replacing it with the epic progression used by ALL characters above 20th lvl. (Which is to say +1 saves every odd lvl, +1 atk every even lvl). For example if you chose to lvl up as barbarian, you'd be a 10 fighter/11 barbarian, with all the class abilities of a tenth level fighter and an eleventh level barbarian. Your attack bonus wouldn't increase, but you'd gain +1 to all saves.

Your character looks good except her sword costs 2,000 gp too much.
+7 sword costs 98,000, +2000x3(cold iron increase for three enhancements: +4, Holy, Ghost Touched)=6,000. total =104, you payed 106.

As for Fast Healing, I'd suggest following Shayuri's suggestions - Ring Of Fast Heal(300,000) or take it as an Epic Feat after lvling up. I won't be allowing templates, and even if I were, I find Feral kinda OP for its LA.

Onlythestrong - if you've got feats you can swap, Power Attack and Improved Natural Attack(Unarmed Strike) would be my suggestions for a damage buff to an unarmed fighter.

Salthorae -
Could I get some basic info on the Paragnostic Assembly?

Voidrazor -
I'm gonna say no to persistant scrolls

Just in case, I wasn't aiming my last comment at anyone in particular, I was just noticing a lot of custom items going around, and I'd kindof been hoping they'd be more unique things rather than just "+ X to Y, blahblah" items. No insult was intended in case anybody took it the wrong way. :)

I'm going to start up a Rogues Gallery right away, feel free to post your updated characters there, and I'll give them a final look-over.

I have a question Jemal.

Would you consider making an exception on the crafted non-core rule for one item? Bearing in mind that the warlock came out in Complete Arcane, so by default no warlock-themed items will ever be core. The Rod of Eldritch Power, in Complete Mage, is a magic rod that can "store" a blast invocation for the warlock's use in it. Each rod has a unique invocation built into it, and while the rod is wielded, the warlock can use that invocation as if it was one selected normally.

I'm looking to buy the Greater Invocation, Vitriolic Blast in one such rod...because that invocation doesn't really fit the 'fey' theme to me, but it would work great as part of a magically empowered device.

However, taking Craft Rod for one item is a pretty stiff price above and beyond the gp value. And since there's no chance that item could have ever possibly have been core, because Warlocks themselves aren't core...I was hoping to get an exception to the rule in that one case.

Pwease? *bat lashes*

I would still gain epic feats at 21st level and every 3 levels after that I would assume as well as per acquiring epics feats description states yes?

now if that is a yes.... if I continue to gain fighter levels.... and I keep getting extra feats in doing so as per the class.... can I take epic feats with those feats given to me by a non-epic class level such as a fighters bonus feats?

Jemal... what kinda of things are you looking for when you say 'unique' items?.... like character specific? world specific?... give us some examples to we can work on getting them out there... you never know we might like them as much as you would like seeing them out there :D
