Sorry, caster level req for wonderous items.
Not so, except a rare few that do have one. Read the errata. The Caster Level entry is NOT a requirement. However, a few items do have caster level in the requirements section. Very very few.

So, the SRD (March 22nd 2005 version) which lists a CL by every wonderous item is wrong?

The caster level on each item is NOT a requirement. It is the suggested caster level for a randomly discovered version of that item. Check the DMG errata, latest version.

I will when the site comes up again (wizards site was down earlier). I think that you still will have issues with spells you know being an issue since the caster level of the spells is somewhat in line with the spells required to make an item.

Caster Level
Dungeon Master’s Guide, page 215
Problem: The last two sentences in the section on Caster
Level are ambiguous and potentially misleading.
Solution: Replace with this text: For other magic items, the
caster level is determined by the creator. The minimum caster
level is that which is needed to meet the prerequisites given.

Here is the quote from the errata.

Now that one is true--you may not have the spells.

The problem of crafting and shops of giving too much gold is not that big. Think about it. First, there must be a market. If Rinaldo starts to sell headbands of intelligence +4 now, he will have difficulty to find a buyer, because no one have such money.

If there is a lot of buyer that appear, be sure that more crafter will appear too.

Finally, as some said, you need all the pre-requisit to build an item. It isn't because you have a feat that you can craft the item.

So, yeap, it has a potential of getting some people rich, but that's a potential for now, nothing more. At the speed LEW characters evolve, I think it will take some time before such unbalance can be seen.

Looks like it's up to me to start a new topic so people can stop arguing!

Is anyone else bothered that to Clerics, Sense Motive is cross classed?

No, I've always found it useful when lying to those pesky priests. In other news, Mystic Theurge does have Sense Motive. Why, however, the world will never know.

Don't forget, that if you flub a roll, it could cost you more as well. Not with every item, but with some.
