BTW, I assume that once Festival of Helina hits 1200 posts, I should create a new thread for it? Or how much leway do I have with that?

So far the only adventures that have been divided into more than one thread have been so divided because (a) the party split, necessitating separate threads for each part, or (b) there was a clearly division into phases different enough that they could reasonably be considered separate adventures. It is convenient to have a single adventure in a single thread, but if you expect your adventure will go on for a lot longer, I suppose splitting it (at a reasonable "chapter break") might be a good idea. Use your judgement.

The 1200 posts thing is more a forum rule issue that a break, but I'll try to break it up at a more convenient time (that hopefully hapens before I go too far.

I think the 1200 is a really old limit from a long time ago that isn't really a hard limit at all anymore (except perhaps if people choose to keep it as such), but I'm not an expert, so I could be wrong :D

About 1200 is the current limit. Unless you're certain that you'll wrap up the adventure soonish, find a convenient spot to change threads. Threads can go longer, but it's better to be on the safe side.

I'd be interested in seeing how Troi (GW's character) condenses the 1200+ posts of Festival of Halina into his journal. Probably something like this:

"Guarded a caravan from Orussus to Covington. Fought some bandits along the way. Saw a bunch of stuff at the Festival of Halina in Covington. Guarded the caravan back to Orussus.

Oh, yeah, this wizard named Sunny that went with us got married in Covington."

I've already begun considering what he's going to write. :)

I don't think it'll be that condensed, but probably close to it, once you get rid of all his personal thoughts. This entry is going to be rather long and reminiscent, as he's probably going to take his next level in bard, so I need to give some background info as to why he's making that decision. And there were several things of note that are going in (like his experience of working for the sheriff, and his thoughts regarding that).

There are plenty of bardic things for him to learn to do as well at the festival, so can't realy go wrong with that.
