Ghostbusters 3

I forget which movie company owns the right to Ghostbusters, but they've said in the past that they would never make another Ghostbusters movie, nor would they sell the rights. Of course, when it comes to Hollywood, never say never. Still, I don't think this will ever happen. What about Goonies II and Gremlins 3?

Yes an informed opinion. Like I said before how can you form opinion if you don't know anything about a project.

I don't say a movie is going to suck just because say Jim Carrey is in it. I will say I don't think I will like it because of that.

I just don't get how many people say oh that movie is going to suck when it has not even been made.

This is real button pusher for me and really tends to get my goat. :\

Most people don't make a distinction between things they like and things that are good. Certainly not the average genre fan, who isn't super interesting in thinking critically about genre projects. So when they hear that there's a sequel to Ghostbusters, they think "I don't think I'll like it." Perfectly reasonable. They probably didn't like the first sequel, what reason to think they'll like the second? Especially if someone they don't like is in it, likeBen Stiller.

They just SAY "it will suck."

If and when someone comes up with a definition of "good" that all people agree upon that doesn't depend upon personal taste, that'll be a valid criticism. But until then, the quality of a film will always be linked with what a person likes. Sorry, but there is no accounting for taste.

Sorry I don't fit your criteria for having an opinion Elf Witch.

Please just give me a break. Go back and read your post no where in it did you say why the movie would suck what you were basing your opinion on. Just that it mostly likely suck. And not that it would suck for you but just in general suck.

Just that it would suck. You don't like the writers, actors what?

As I have said before I don't see how a person comes to the opinion that a movie is going to suck in general before it is even filmed.

I know and it really bugs me. :( We base our decisions on our previous experiences. If you have never liked a directors movies then you most likely won't waste your money on seeing his new one.

And saying so is a good reason to say I don't think I will like this movie.

I don't know if I agree with this. At least for me. I can judge a film as to if it is a good film and still not like it.

The Truman Show for example was a well done movie but I didn't like it the same with American Beauty.

Well, there was a plot summary in the first post. It's not much, but I can see how looking at that, if you think it's a completely non-Ghostbustery plot, then you could think immediately that it will suck.

And replacing Bill Murray with Ben Stiller is certainly reason enough to think that.

Not saying that I think either of those would make the movie suck, but I can see how some people would think that just based on either of those two things.

And again, I'm sorry I don't fit your criteria for having an opinion.

If I say "I think it will suck," it means just that: I think it will suck. I am not obligated to give you any reasons for my opinion. Get over it.

Don't say that. It hurts my feelings :(

You aren't. I really like There's Something About Mary and like the others as well. I think he is pretty funny.
And he is. I congratulate you on your taste :)
