That may be the theory, but in practice, with the number of votes a CbP poll typically gets, there isn't really much of a difference.

Yes, that has been my experience. Unfortunately, we're only getting about 7-10 votes on these polls, so ties seem rather likely, regardless of polling methods.

I think we're looking for something that does not necessarily translate *directly* from a modern-day language. More for something you could make a plausible etymological argument for.

Actually, we mainly need a name that sounds cool, so if you can help with that, go ahead!
