Figured all you gnome lovers would like to know this info from WotC_Logan :

We're in a crunch trying to get classes spiffed up and entered into a database. We need to get our playtest packets together, and we're developing the classes rapidly. I've been in the rogue, ranger, and cleric meetings this week, and I think they're all on pretty solid ground.

One thing a player in Dave Noonan's game mentioned was that he wanted more non-violent options for his cleric. We'd gone pretty military for the cleric, but in the dev meeting, I made sure we put in some options for the other guy. "What would Steve Wolbrecht do" led us to some pretty cool powers that everybody—not just pacifists—will want.

Now I'm spending my days typing in monster numbers. I hadn't worked on monsters much, so it's cool to see what they're doing. I did wolves most recently, and gnomes are up next. (Gnomes rock, I don't care what anyone says.)

Some sad news from our lunchtime Savage Worlds game: My copy of the Explorer's Edition is missing a whole signature (page numbers skip from 16 to 49). We'd just hit Seasoned level, so it kinda sucked to not have any character advancement stuff in my book.

Emphasis added. I'm gonna go out on a (short) limb and say gnomes will be one of the races in the MM that they'll stat up to be PC races.

Good! Gnomes are where they belong, as terrifying inhuman monsters which manipulate the PCs from behind the scenes.

Yes, I have been playing in an Eberron game. Why do you ask?

You do realize that the gnome stats in the MM will be propaganda put forth specifically by the Trust to lull the others races into a false set of complacency, right? Even though the Trust, of course, does not exist. And is simultaneously also your friend. Really.

As much as I like the Trust and jokes related to said organization, I say they should change Gnomes completely. They should make them the Earth-elemental spirits, part of a set with Water-elemental Undines, Fire-elemental Salamanders, and Wind-elemental Sylphs. A classic elemental set, which Wikipedia tells me dates back to middle ages alchemical theory.

The fact that this set shows up in many videogames I like, and would make a great set of elemental summoned creatures, is not an ulterior motive at all. Honest. ;)

Pistols at dawn, sir.

WotC, if you didn't see my post in the news thread: PLEASE put at least an abbreviated version of gnomes-as-PCs up on DDI when the PHB comes out. Some of us have gnomes in ongoing campaigns that are getting converted, not ended, when 4E comes out.

I'm quite comfortable that the majority of the popular PC races that do not appear in the PHB will make an appearance in the first MM, along with the Eberron specific races other than the changeling and kalashtar (the changeling is still core, right?).
