They've already started to. I know of atleast three mindflayer characters that are making the rounds right now.

Anyway, I'll start by saying that gods are like any ther character-type. They can be played well, or they can be played poorly. So long as they don't try to use their "godly powers" to violate freedom of destiny (which they, of course, can't technically do anyway), they aren't any more of a problem than the vampires were or the catpeople before them. Just another fad.

That said, I'm going to stick to my ,ain philosophy about role-playing: Its flaws that make a character, not cool abilities. If you're playing a god with some sort of disabling quirk, then you're just as good a role-player in my eyes as any other good role-playing on the site. If, however, you play a diety just to be able to draw Dragon Titan Fire from the heavens, then you might want to rethink your character.

Just my opinion, of course.

EDIT: Oh yeah, and Kobolds for the next fad all the way! (Wishful thinking, I know)

Alright... well um...

:: hunts ::

...how about... Goldfish people?

...I couldn't think of anything....:embarrass

After having seen Godzilla, a weremuffin and a beer elemental in the tavern at various stages of it's career. I wouldn't be too hasty to assume we haven't had a goldfish person at some stage. :(

Usually I tend to have an obvious distain for people who play Gods, celestials, ancient vampires, Chosen of Mystra, etc because generally I've noticed the majority of them are just out to give themselves more power and prestige and can't be bothered to roleplay the negative aspects of their character as well (big responsiblities, vulenerabilities, etc).

There are of course many notable exceptions (so please don't kill me Bhryn) to the rule and many people who tend to play their characters quite well and without powergaming.

Then there is the last group who seem to avoid powergaming, don't want the huge prestige etc... but don't really seem to have a reason for their character being one of these things either... always confuses me but I can't really complain about it since they arean't hurting anyone.

And now off to see if I can remember ever seeing a goldfish person....

Hurray!

I'm an exception!!!

...That makes me special...

Hurr-...wait :bored: ... ah who am I kidding, HURRAY!

:P

Ok i'll have to admit...i enjoy the idea of gold fish people eheheh so...appealing...but now my question...AM I AN EXCEPTION *looks worried then runs off to ponder her fate*

Err.... I don't believe I know you well enough to say. :)

I only posted Bhryn's name 'cause she'd posted in the thread and was kind of a notable exception to me. I'm not gonna post who is and isn't here because only bad things can come of it.
