Goodbye to a faithful family friend

Psion

Adventurer
Last night, Ares, our beloved family pet of 10 years, passed away after a surprisingly brief bout with illness.

As affected as I am by this loss, I feel worse for my daughters. Ares has been there as long as they all have lived. My oldest is taking it especially hard.

Goodbye, Ares. You are missed.

Take care Ares, you looked like a love.

Your local library should have a section of sort of self-help children's books, on things like divorce and grieving. There's a good Mr Rogers book about the death of a pet, and a sweet story called "the tenth good [nice?] thing about Barney" (a cat, not the dinosaur) that are good for younger kids. older kids often get a lot out of a memorial service of some sort.

Take care.

My condolences, Psion. It's tough losing a family pet like that and I know how it feels being a parent who can't just "kiss it and make it better".

Take care.

:( Losing a family pet is very, very hard. Lots of love and happy thoughts heading your way, Psion.

Sorry to hear the news. When our German Shepard of 15 years (yes- old dog) passed away we feared for my father. He took it very hard.

Take it easy.

We feel for your lose here.

Our animals have always been more our kids then our pets. Talk to your kids and let them know its okay to cry, to grieve and to feel really sad, but all things pass, even those we love.

Sorry for your family's lose. :(
