D&D 5E Grappling Rune Knight

If you mean trying to pick up and move the grappled creature (swinging them) into another target, it would be an improvised weapon. However, as a DM I would say you have to be pretty strong to move them depending on the weight of the creature you have grappled. :)

If you're grappling as a standard thing you better be strong! In 5e though being strong doesn't cut it. You have to be getting that Large doubling and Huge quadrupling for carrying capacity

Oh, I don't know. Strong, of course, and the size increases would help with the weight certainly, but a STR 20 can already lift 600 lbs! I can easily imagine a character with STR 20 lifting someone who is 200 lbs and tossing them 5 feet into a target.

Of course, since they "threw" the target, it becomes a ranged attack and since the target is within 5 feet it would be with disadvantage on the attack roll. ;)

Str 20 lifts 600 lbs only when enlarged, unless you’re starting as a Firbolg or a Goliath which would be awesome. 1200 lbs enlarged.

No, you and lift, push, drag, etc. your STR x30 (double your carrying capacity), but your speed drops to 5 feet.

Even without that, 300 lbs. (STR 20 x15) would be sufficient to toss many, if not most, medium-size targets.

Yeah, I didn't think about the lift/push/drag because if you're staggering to the point of only having 5' movement, in my mind you can't generate enough "oomph" to fling someone hard enough to do damage to someone or something else.

It could probably be enough for many medium creatures. Certainly for smalls. I guess I just usually encounter grapples against other beefy enemies, so tossing them isn't usually an option because they are already heavy plus armor and gear, etc gets them well over the pick-up weight.

Often games don't go until primary stats are capped, and I usually am playing with point buy/standard array rather than rolling, so yeah. Not usually working with a 20 str anyway.

We don't often get to 20's either, but 18 is pretty regular.

As a funny aside, last session a cloud giant threw our fighter/barbarian 60 feet, luckily, our wizard had feather fall prepared and save her from some damage. Still it was a good part of the fight!

20 Strength is very doable by a Fighter at level 6. With the Unarmed Fighting Style and many bonus action options baked into the Rune Knight I don't think a single feat is needed for the concept.

I mean... just for flavor... you could take Magic Initiate (druid) and learn at least the Magic Stone and Shillelagh cantrips :) You know, to really play up that Giant heritage of smashing things with big sticks, punching things hard and throwing rocks at them.

As a DM I'd probably let Magic Stone work like Shillelagh where you can use your spellcasting modifier, not must. So a PC could still use their Str mod to throw their magic stones for to hit and damage.

It isn't worth much, but I still like the idea of Tavern Brawler to initiate a grappled after the unarmed strike as a bonus action. :)
