Great Gifts for the Male Gamer

My husband and I are approaching our anniversary... I've got plenty of good gift ideas but, I'm looking for other ideas while, at the same time, trying to throw my husband off on what I will actually get him. :p

So, I'm just wondering if any of you have any great gift ideas for the male gamer?

Male gamers in particular? Nope. But good ideas, sure -- can you tell us a bit about him? Apart from liking D&D (which I assume is a given ;)), what else is he into, gaming-wise?

Let's see... he loves Star Wars, fantasy literature, writing, movies... he likes dogs, medieval weaponry, terrain, miniatures...

He really enjoys history and computer games... he loves technology in general...

A real man's man with interests that rest, almost entirely, on the fantasy and Star Wars genre... every now and then branching out to interesting trinkets that you can find at places like Brookstone...

Not a hard guy to please, by any stretch of the imagination... just wondering if there's some really cool thing that I'm missing out on...

Given that he likes Star Wars and miniatures, WotC's new Star Wars minis game seems like a pretty good fit. ;)

Thinkgeek also sells lightsabers for under $120, including Vader's and Luke's. They've got sound effects (power up, strike, power down, etc.), and after checking them out at GenCon I'd have to say they're pretty darned sweet. Here's a link: http://www.thinkgeek.com/cubegoodies/toys/69de/.

Does he have any of the Star Wars Lego sets? They're awesome -- and if he does have some/nearly all of them, does he have the web-only star destroyer? You can buy it direct from Lego.com for $300, and it's pretty unbelievable: 3 feet long, held together with magnets, and 3,000 pieces. :)

Hope this helps!

He also seemed to really like Heroscape. That's also a possibility.

And then there's his newfound fascination with dungeon/future wall sets.

Tac Tiles (sp?) - you know, the dry erase ones...

I'm sure I can think up some more.

Celtic Pen - I recieved one for X-mas last year and I prize it.

Dragon Box - It was on sell in the Art Show at GENCON, small box with dragon head on top, felt lining. Good for holding dice or just sitting around.

If there's any of the older games he really likes but doesn't have, then you could try to find a copy? Ebay is good for that.

Can't go wrong with funky dice and dicebox?

Throw him a suprise RPG party - before is probably better than after - get some friends and beer over - run a 1 shot of his favorite system. Make him the centre of the plot.

Tac Tiles are something too obvious-- and the anniversary is a little too far off to buy them and be sure he won't buy them for himself...

And, though he enjoyed Heroscape, I think most of the enjoyment came from the fact that he kicked the butts of the person he demoed with...

However, the lego sets are a GREAT idea... don't know why I hadn't thought of that one...

:D Thanks, guys!!!
