D&D 4E Green Slime for 4e?

ColonelHardisson

What? Me Worry?
I'm about to run an old module using 4e rules, and in finding analogs for the monsters and hazards within, the only one that I've yet to find in a 4e book is green slime. I'm simply going to use the rules for it from the 3.5 SRD, but I was curious as to whether it was, indeed, in a 4e book and I overlooked it. If I did, it's probably someplace really obvious.

Blue Slime - KotS
Shadow Slime - Dragon 367

Only slimes I know of.

Also, please, for the sake of everyone playing, don't just yank the 3.5 slime and use it in 4e. It really is a different game. You at the very least want to check out the DMG for expected values for HP/Attacks/Damage/etc.

Edit: *Facepalm* So Green Slime is actually a hazard... I still can't find anything for it in 4e.

Naw, these initial sessions are a "shakedown cruise" anyway, in which two of my original players from way, way back, plus one of their kids, have expressed interest in playing. The two older players haven't played D&D or any other RPG for close to twenty years - one of them was unaware that there had been three editions since he last played, or that Gygax hadn't been involved with D&D directly since the mid-80s. I'm pretty rusty myself, though I've gamed fairly recently, and simply want to run some sessions to see how the new game feels.

If the green slime of 3.5 wreaks havoc in 4e (I doubt it will, but ya never know), then I'll have gotten a better feel for what works in the game. In fact, it's the kind of experience I'm looking for - I've done a good bit of reading, and now need some object lessons. Plus, these guys are still used to the old school "save or die" stuff of 1e, and won't mind getting a little mussed.

Thanks for the feedback, though.

Yeah, I'd searched for it some years back, so I remembered it wasn't considered a "monster" anymore. It was a tad confusing, especially since it was such an iconic "monster" in the 1e MM!

Make the green slime a hazard that does damage, with the special effect that if it kills, the corpse is extra goey. The describe its attacks as flesh-dissolving.

Not such a big deal.

Yeah, I know it's not such a big deal. I didn't post because I was in a panic over it. I was simply curious as to whether there was any treatment of it in the 4e books.

What ever happened to Green Slime? It used to be tremendously iconic and popular. I saw it used a lot and I always had fond memories of the nasty stuff.

At some point it feel from grace. It was in 3e, though a shadow of it's former horror, but you didn't see it around very much. And now it doesn't even exist.

I wonder why?
It saddens me.

Well, there are templates for hazards; just make a writeup. Along with its old buddies yellow Mold and Brown Mold. When converting adventures from older editions, these simply have to be there.

A problem is that these fellas used to scale pretty much with level. Green slime could be encountered at any level, and was a old-skool thing - if you was using a torch and not some weenie magic light source, you could get rid of the slime by taking some minor fire damage. At the same time, a lvl 20 hero could fall to it if surprised and unprepared.
