* I can't stand most fantasy and science fiction novels. I find them awful.
* Took 10 years to complete reading The Hobbit and almost 15 years to read The Lord of the Rings from start to finish.
* I hate what I percieve as powergaming and rules lawyering. Just play the game!
* Actually thinks that some railroading is a good thing.
* I wish D&D was more mainstream but fear the sort of jerks who would start playing.
* I think that Lord of the Rings was THE basis for D&D. No other fantasy literature comes as close to capturing the feel of D&D as LotR.
* Thinks that the classic Dragonlance Chronicles trilogy should be required reading in schools.

• am hiding behind a cartoon-inspired screen name (family, of course, calls me something else);
• think dwarves are both underrated and overrated at the same time (because they are good enough at enough classes to be the default race; but shouldn't be the default because humans are that, and dwarves are angry-mob-funny, like the "Keystone Kops");
• see no point, so far, in playing an eladrin, or a tiefling, or a dragonborn, or a half-elf, or a half-orc (at least, from a roleplaying perspective, and if we're not talking straight "build-power");
• do see some point in playing a gnome, but haven't found any suitable occasion to do so (need a better supply of unending badger);
• missed out on OD&D, BECMI, AD&D 1E & 2E, because I preceded them; and basically came (belatedly) to D&D through the online SRD. (Catching up is hard to do when you're 64, crotchety and inflexible, and still have other things going on in life.)

1. I hate gnomes. As NPCs I create them to be annoying as much as possible so my players can relish in wiping them out of existance.
2. I'm a closet gamer. I don't go around preaching the Gospel of D&D to the Ignorant Masses.
3. I love to powergame and mix/max my characters. It's how I roll.
4. I would just kill if I could play some game other than D&D for once. I used to go to conventions, but I got married.
5. On these forums and on the Intertubes, my persona is to be a nice and supportive gamer. But. It's. Hard. So. Very. Hard.

* I started playing at the tail end of 1E
* I never got into Dragon Lance or Greyhawk. They just never did it for me.
* I am a Forgotten Realms, Eberron, Dark Sun, Dragonstar, Alternity, and Spell Jammer fan boi
* I almost never play humans. They are a great race, but.... too 'human' for me. =)
* I almost never play gnomes or halflings. I have probably played 1 or 2 of each in all my time playing
* I DM'ed my parents when I first started to learn the game and I had to change/clarify the rules several times and they have never let me forget it.... 20 years later.... Uggghhh!
* I know some will boo me, but the Planescape art never appealed to me. I like the game, but the art and those silly accents kind of pushed me away from it.
* the Planescape boxed sets were just OK for me, but the other accessories were freaking amazing.
* I also tend to write pages of character history that never gets incorporated in the campaign..
* I have almost every book from 1E - 3E. 4E is lacking do to money and life changes. =(
