Guilty Admissions...

Hi, I'm TS, and I:

Think every edition to date has been better than its predecessor, but I don't like the CB.

Am a walking cliche. I'm a skinny brainy guy with glasses, I'm good at academia and math in particular, I find most people and small talk challenging, I'm terrified of pretty women, I have two life-threatening genetic conditions [including asthma] and I love games of all sorts.

Spend too much time on gamer forums. :erm:

* Don't really get why people love kobolds so friggin' much. I hate the buggers.
I don't get it either; loving kobolds is like loving goldfish. Ugly goldfish that get used as cannon fodder.

* Think H.P. Lovecraft in D&D is overrated.
I think Lovecraft is overrated in general.

* Will make fun of you if you start talking at length about your D&D campaign when in "mixed company" (a group of gamers and non-gamers).
I'll just walk away, regardless of the company. Probably because I don't play in your campaign, and I just don't care.

* I dislike almost all fantasy and sci-fi novels. IMO, most are terribly written, particularly the dialogue. I've stopped reading them.
Same here, except I haven't given up hope yet. I keep a [very] short list of good fantasy novels, and I'm always on the lookout for the next addition.

1) I have never watched Monty Python and the Holy Grail, and most references to it go over my head.
Monty Python is overrated. It's worth seeing once, but some people need to get over it.

Hello, I am Galeros and I...

1. Love Tinker Gnomes, and think they can be viable player characters.
2. By extension, I absolutely adore the Dragonlance setting and I know it is a lot more diverse than people think it to be. In other worse, Dragonlance is not just the War of the Lance period. It is not 1984 anymore, people.
3. I also really like Ravenloft, but I would not mind altering the rules so I or someone else could play a ...
4. Good Necromancer! I have wanted to play one of these for forever.
5. I prefer games with no character death, or where character death is very difficult to achieve.

Hello. I'm El Mahdi, and...

1. I Love Rangers! If not for thinking fellow players would roll their eyes and endlessly rib me for it, I'd play a Ranger for every character.
2. Despite being illogical and unrealistic, I Love Two Weapon Fighting! (There...I said it...whew...;))
3. I Love Avariel! Same as above, if I could, I'd make every character an Avariel Ranger! With Two Weapon Fighting!:D
4. Despite outwardly saying to the contrary, I usually think other peoples characters, campaigns, and games are usually silly and uninteresting. Horrible...but true.:erm:
5. I love Orcs and Goblins and Ogres and Kobolds and...any mundane monster. The wierd, freakish, different monsters, I just find to be silly.
6. I absolutely cannot stand scenarios, campaigns, and player/DM actions that are unrealistic. Gaming is serious business, Dammit!:o
7. I like Drizzt, Raistlin, Elminster...you name em'. But I do think that Cyric is just silly.:p
8. I despise character deaths.
9. As DM, I fudge dice rolls like crazy! I'm positive that the way I see the campaign going, will always be the absolute best outcome.
10. Despite all of the above, if I'm gaming with people I find fun and interesting, nothing else matters.

My head instantly jumped to page 12 of the 3.5 Dungeon Master's Guide II.
Was the person filling out that art order talking about you? :)

For those without a copy, the illustration on that page depicts a winged elf dual-wielding swords, and the caption below reads:
"A winged elf might be a favourite role for one of the players in your campaign."

Hi, I'm Ycore Rixle, aka Frank, and I...

1. Misspelled my own username from an old 1e module.
2. Can't stand to play in a campaign where the DM strikes me as power-hungry, attention-seeking, or anything else that irks me.
3. Calculated the experience the players received for killing Lolth, in thick black marker, right on the Lolth page of a 1e Deities & Demigods (the otherwise semi-valuable edition with the Cthulhu-Melnibone copyright infringement stuff).
4. Have never read a Drizzt novel.
5. Or a Dragonlance novel.
6. Don't get how swords damage iron golems.
7. Can't do accents.
8. Get frustrated when people say that a game is "just" a game.
9. I am an elitist dice spinner. If you can't spin a d4, you'll never have 100% of my respect. It's unfair but there you have it. On the other hand, if you can keep your entire 7-die set spinning indefinitely, well, then you'd always get the first slice of pizza at my table 'cause you are Awesome.
10. I have been at various times a complete freeloader on homemade gaming snacks. People would have delicious homemade cookies, pies, pumpkin breads... and I was always the guy who'd bring the chips or the paper plates.
11. I sometimes daydream about living in a basement, delivering pizza, and gaming 6 days a week.
12. I sometimes wish gaming were a little bit more SERIOUS, you know, with game master support networks, people paying experienced players to tutor them in how to run a wizard, game master and player certifications, all that corny, hokey, totally awesome stuff like in Knights of the Dinner Table.

And those are my 12 steps...

Wonderful thread idea!

Hi, I'm Johnny, and I...

1) Sometimes mentally stat a person out upon meeting them.
2) Have no problem at all talking about gaming when in 'mixed company.'
3) Probably buy way more dice than I'll ever use
4) Don't like to fudge dice when GMing
5) sadly, have not been to a Con
6) often think that one of the biggest benefits of winning the lottery would be that I could spend less time working and more time gaming

Guilty gaming admissions?

- I like my dudes to hit things really hard.
... sometimes I get a little carried away during the leveling up stage.

- I like to stat out people and the things they do.
... with my wife.

Hi, my name is Daytripper and I...

1. secretly prefer playing v3.5 to 4e
2. spent too much time power gaming as a kid instead of reading the rules and actually playing the game properly and now regret wasting that time as now I have none due to RL :(
3. avoid literature that comes in volumes of 3 or more - why the heck can't these guys tell a story in a single book!?
4. think PCs should conform to the campaign world and not the other way around
5. never admit to being a gamer when meeting new people
6. hate Dritzz - come to think of generally hates all RPG inspired literature which usually have awful plots, no characterisation and come in volumes of 3+ (see point 3 above)
7. don't understand what Essentials is all about
8. is irritated by optimisation - build a character, dude!
9. have cheated as DM and a player (for the shame!)
10. think the happiest days of my life were spent at Gencon with my buddies (don't tell the wife!)

I am Pickles & I

1) Find Greyhawk very very dull
2) Find Forgotten Realms very dull
3) Never even looked at Dragonlance – needed a PC game
4) Dislike all the fantasy fiction I read nowadays (which given my dislike is not much)
5) Remember how much better fantasy fiction used to be when I was 15
6) Like Eberron & Planescape (would you believe I also like Noir detective stories?)
7) Never liked Star Trek
8) Wear my geeky gaming T Shirts with pride, especially when in public in the company of other, repressed, gamers
9) Never evangelise to muggles
10) Which reminds me I hate Harry Potter too, though mostly the movies as I couldn’t read enough of the books the really hate them.
11) Cheat with the dice, the stats & anything else I feel like when I DM
12) Never admit to 11) above
13) Always played D&D with minis on a grid even in 1980.
14) Find I am actually proud of most of these things rather than guilty hmm I signed up to the wrong list as this is the only one I am guilty about so far
15) Aha I don’t like long backstories for characters as a DM or other player
16) I want at least my share of table time when I am playing a game
17) Despite 4) & probably because of 18) D&D even in generic fantasy world is by far my favourite RPG
18) Don’t care much about “Operational” (left tunnel or right?) or Strategic choices (ally with the Duke or the Baron?) in RPGs – it’s tactics & a bit of Characterisation for me
19) Find people who think their games improve from exposure to fantasy chod sadly deluded ;)

Hello. I am Exploderwizard and I am guilty of:

- Blowing up multiple pantheons of deities with fireballs thrown by my 2000th level wizard named Ralt Gathier.

- Not being able to fully articulate why Drizzt is so damn irritating.

- Thinking that all the fluff explanations that cover edition changes to the FR over the years has been some of the lamest crap ever published for rpgs.

- Openly laughing at people who treat D&D as sewious business.

- Going full retard during a gaming session if the situation calls for it.

- Buying more minis than I will ever have time to paint.

- Including wererats in just about every campaign that I run because they are so awesome.

- Having more fun running sessions that are way underprepped .
