We signed the paperwork to put in an offer on a house today. 😁 It's in our neighborhood. It's considerably smaller but it and the land it's on will be ours.
We've been discussing renting our current place out. The landlord has to approve it. It's unlikely he will. The realtor working with made a suggestion to make the home available to women currently in battered women's shelters. I haven't thought of that but it's a great idea.

According to the headline of today's paper, the CDC shooter fired 500 rounds. "Luckily", he only killed one person. I'm glad no one else was hurt. My heart hurts for the officer's family. I feel for the CDC employees. I had a longer rant. It probably would have been moderated. This was senseless and pointless. And nothing will be done to prevent another situation like it as we saw in Austin Texas. Sometimes it seems like too much.

Some good news. The seller accepted the offer. The realtor texted around 9am. They didn't hesitate in accepting. The house was on the market for about a week or so. We were the first, and I guess only offer.

Our current neighbors have chickens. Our soon to be neighbors have chickens AND ducks. There are more chickens in this neighborhood than cats, and there are a lot of cats roaming around. I remember the first time I came into the neighborhood I saw a man with a horse. He was leading the horse by the reins with a boy in the saddle. We'll own the land now. We could have our own chickens if we want.

Be the Joneses everyone wants to keep up with by getting emus.

Or alpacas.

We won't have that much land. Just over half an acre. And it's almost all front yard. With a portion taken up by a huge ditch. I'm not complaining, I like it. Trees are growing out and providing cover bonuses and movement penalties. And if I could I'd go with goats. Goats won't spit at you or peck your eyes out. Alpacas and emus can be aggressive.

Alpacas might spit, but they’re not really aggressive. Llamas, OTOH…

I had a tooth extracted today. It needed to be done- I had a freak accident that led to an infection under it. It wasn’t pleasant, but it WAS painless. I wouldn’t want to have this happen again, but I wouldn’t hesitate going back to the oral surgeon who did my procedure today. And this was step one of a three step process that will eventually have me sporting a screwed-in replacement.

…by the middle of next year.

But given the difficulty of my extraction- my ā€œgood bonesā€ didn’t surrender the damaged tooth easily- I couldn’t help but think about patients of eras past when alcohol might be the strongest painkiller available. Assuming that was an option, which it wasn’t always.

And then there’s the aftercare. I mean, thank you scientists who discovered and refined antibiotics!

Modern medicine for the win.

I went to the dentist today also. We scheduled an extraction for next week. I don't have dental insurance. This is gonna cost a fortune. It's a molar. I won't be getting a replacement. I'll try to make do without. I have to do something though. I can't keep taking ibuprofen or Aleve every 12 hours as I've been doing for about a week now.
