I've bought comic books in the past, but I've not been that big into them. Instead of buying individual issues I've bought collected issue books. I like that. The first time I saw the Spider-Gwen costume was on a cosplayer. I liked the costume with its hood and all. With the Spider verse movies coming out I got more interested in them. I got a couple of Spider-Gwen books and a couple of Silk books. Silk looks badass. I'm enjoying them. I'd like to dig deeper into the Spider-verse. Was it Spider Noir in the first movie? If there are comics featuring him I'd like to check those out. Maybe the cowboy from the second movie?

With all the comic book movies and shows, has it translated to more comics sales?

Comic book villains like Venom become heroes over time because they have a cool asthetic and get popular with the fans.

Other comic book villains like Magneto become heroes because every decade since Reagan it's harder and harder to say they were wrong.

To say who were wrong? I always that Magneto was a villain. Same with Venom until the movie. To me, that was out of the blue. I suppose over time, if Eddie Brock was a good guy, he could influence Venom. I didn't think he was.

Magneto is one of those villains/anti-heroes who made accurate observations to justify actions that might be questionable or ill/advised, if not outright evil themselves. So the “they” are those- mostly other mutants- who opposed him.

The thing is, he wasn’t being opposed for his beliefs, but his methods.

I'm not sure if I were a mutant I would see him as a hero. And I wish I were. lol I was very over weight when I was a kid. Still am. I was bullied mercilessly for years. I had something that set me apart from other. Still do. I know that's how I start to think if I want someone to accept me for who and what I am, I have to accept them for who and what they are. I got to a point where I can't accept ignorant bigots. I'll accept them for whatever else they are except being a bigot.

I watched this video last night where a group of young men went to Vidor Texas. It's 94% white and a sundown town. I wasn't shocked at the level of racism. I think I was shocked at the level of denial about the racism some of the residents were in.

I hope I would be more like Professor X. The non mutant humans are afraid and they lash out. It's hard work and will take time, but you can show your value and worthiness. Unlike most minorities, mutants have power and can dominate. It's strength of character not to do so. I think that's why Magneto fails as a hero. He lacks the character and wants to take the easy way.
