Heart of Artifice: Part I--Engineered Enigma

"Bah, they were not really dangerous. If you want, i have some scrolls that can heal that wound." tells Kharas, helping Eli carrying the body.

The dwarf then follow the group, as he move into the subterranean cavern he tells "Is it an habit here to build over what we don't want anymore. It seems there so much forgottent hings down the city. They should just destoy and rebuild instead or try to maintain there work."

As the enter teh room with the pillar, he looks at the complex pattern and glyph. "What is it Elizabeth? What is this place? Would that ruby be the one you were speaking of by any chance?"

"Oh no, you don't have to heal them--I'm just glad you didn't kill any of them," Elizabeth smiles, not thinking that Kharas meant to heal her because her thoughts had been on healing the Ravers for the moment.

~~~Later~~~
"Yes...it is...that could mean...Oh Lucy! Anvuss must have been right!"
"I was speaking about you. I won't put conscious again someone who is trying to kill me, that would be a bit useless, as I would need to knowck it again." replies Kharas.
Kharas looks at Elizabeth "Can we know what you are speaking about, or is it still too important that you want to keep it for yourself?" the dwarf speak politely, but it is not hard to see he is containing some exasperation.
"Oh, thank you Kharas, but I'll let you keep those for yourself and find a House Jorasco healer later."
~~~Later~~~

"Well, since you signed the nondisclosure agreement...this is an ancient Dhakaani ruin. It seemed to be missing a ruby when we found it, and it reacted to the Wyrd Ruby we discovered in Xen'drik. It has a strange and unusual power...and now the Wyrd Ruby is here. It seems within the realm of possibility that Lucy took the ruby and brought it here."

"Lucy herself... that is a possibility I never thought, but in that case, why the construct would have come take her? Or they woul have taken her after she came here? But what that... things do?" asks Kharas.

"I think there are few choices other than Lucy for who initially took the Ruby, as we have wards in place that let us know who is entering our home, in case House Cannith or others send someone to attack, vandalise, or steal our research. That's actually why I initially was sure Anvuss was wrong--it makes no sense for it to be Lucy, but on the other hand, it wasn't Diggy and it wasn't me, so unless one of you stole it without my noticing the first time you visited, which I doubt, that leaves very few options."

"Maybe she played down here with her friends and then came back up after playing down here, and then some constructs they had awakened with their games came to the upper city to hunt down and abduct them? That doesn't explain why she didn't take the Ruby back after she was done, but maybe she did and the constructs brought it back down with her."

"But there is a question you didn't answer that could greeatly help me think about all that, as for now, ti still make little sense. Do you know what these pillars do. It seems a great device, and if it is one, it has been build for a purpose? What it is?" asks Kharas, wanting to go to teh bottom of this story.

"It is not clear exactly what this array was originally meant to do. It has great power, though. It can see your inner desires, and sometimes, it can grant it. It is not clear exactly when and how it decides what to do, but that is the best I know of it."

"It can grant inner desire? What do you mean? You mena it grant a wish like those djinn stories?" wonders Kharas. "I suppose you've witness it once if you know that... what is has done that time?"
