Heart of Artifice: Part I--Engineered Enigma

(OOC: A snatching disarm is not technically a violent action, though grappling for the object or beating each other over the head for it or something like that would be. They seem to be allowed to take vigorous actions as long as said actions are not violent (they could do six running somersaults to dodge attacks, for instance, as it says they can defend themselves). Certainly opposing the disarm check is not an aggressive action on your part. He is likely to fail because unarmed counts as a -4 for being a light weapon.)

OOC: Grabbing his hand with my off-hand, would that count as a offensive action, just like a mother who would grabs the hand of his children who try to pick a cookie in the jar... in other world, it is just to take an action not considered violent to prevent him to grab the weapon. The odds are against him, but with a d20 as a variable, he can succeed it.

He really want to get killed. I hate fanatics.

(OOC: I'm not sure I understand what your action is (the D&D name for the action--Grapple?), but remember that while he needs to avoid violent actions [SBLOCK=Violent]Violence is a general term to describe actions, usually deliberate, that cause or intend to cause injury to people, animals, or non-living objects. [/SBLOCK], you need to avoid aggressive actions [SBLOCK=Aggressive]Hostile action directed at someone or something often in the form of a general physical or vocal disruption.[/SBLOCK]

As the leader tries to grab his weapon, Kharas tells him. "Don't touch that. Drop your weapons, go help you fallen comrade and we will talk. I didn't want that but your stubborness is annoying me. By Artifex Maximus," Kharas do teh sign the Baron and his family have done in front of him "can't you just listen for a moment!"

"Blessed be the Holy One" the guard mutters, as he ignores Kharas again but just barely fails to take the weapon.

(OOC: You need at least a Full-Round Action to Diplomacy, so can't do it while concentrating on the device--so he will treat the request at his current attitude, which is a smouldering Unfriendly rather than his usual blazing Hostile thanks to the device. Anyways, the roll on the disarm was a tie, so Kharas, with the bigger bonus, wins)

*Anvuss moves around to flank with Kharas.*

*Meanwhile, the guard moves over and grabs Anvuss's scroll off the ground.*

(OOC: AoO while he is moving for anyone who wants to take it)

"While I believe my grasp of the immediate tactical situation is adequate, I must admit to ignorance of the overall strategic situation. I would, however, advise you of one item of significance: this gentleman set off a flare while you were dazed. In all probability, it is a matter of minutes before enemy reinforcements arive, if these people are in fact our enemies and not simply overly exhuberant."

"Damned, we stop waste time with that fanatic." tells Kharas as he decide to swing at him but fumble.

[SBLOCK=OOC]Attack roll: 6[/SBLOCK]

*As Kharas takes the attack, the spell is broken. Nonetheless, their opponent grabs the scroll and stuffs it away.*

(OOC: Distance to opponent--30 feet. Only one of you can charge him because then the other will be occupying the closest square. Kharas's turn)

"A touch of cause moderate damage seems the best bet. He's very slippery, I was unable to hit him even with attacks I felt sure would land."
