Transmute H to O (sorry...)

I am torn between Horrid Bursting and Caress of the Bilge Worm. I will shortly post the spell, which I see as a Transmutation spell. Thanks, everyone.

Any good last minute suggestions.

Sorry it took me so long to post the spell, and pick a name. Tell me what you think of the spell. Do I need to alter it to make it more balanced? Thanks to everyone for their input and advice. (The Mountain Dew suggestion really got a good laugh out of a friend.:D )

Aqueous Doom
Transmutation
Level: Sor/Wiz 8, Water 8
Components: V,S,M/DF
Casting Time: 1 action
Range: Medium (100 ft.+10 ft./level)
Targets: Living creatures, no two of whom can be more than 30 feet apart
Duration: Instantaneous
Saving Throw: Fortitude half
Spell Resistance: Yes

This spell causes the bodies of all subject living creatures to swell with fetid water and crack open with wounds, dealing 1d8 points of damage per caster level (maximum 25d8). This spell is particularly devastating to plant creatures, who receive a –2 penalty to their saving throws. Water elementals are immune to this spell.

Material component: A drop of water or other liquid.

(Designer Notes: A scene in the first X-Men movie inspired me to create this spell. I thought that this would be an interesting addition to the sometimes ignored transmutation school. (I have not seen many Transmuter specialists in 3E.) However, I did not want the spell to be clearly superior to the 3.5 version of the Horrid Wilting spell. Although damage is higher, both range and area of effect are reduced. Also, I could not see how a water elemental would be damaged by this spell. You can at least over water plants.

In designing new spells, I think it is important not to make one that is clearly superior to an existing spell of the same level. While Aqueous Doom may do more damage, Horrid Wilting is still a valid choice for a PC to take because of its greater range and area.)
