Help with build & per level feat distribution

Oh I understand what you're saying. I think it is at least in part due to the fact that he is actually less familiar with the rules than I am. Plus it does make book keeping easier for the group.

Well, you can copy the relevant text from the links I sent you and pass it along with the request, I suppose. Can't hurt.

Okay, assuming I was to take the feats Able Learner, Dodge^, Mobility^, and Elusive Target, where would be the best places to fit them in?

Assuming I follow Grogg's suggested order:

Human - Dreadful Wrath
1 - Combat Expertise1
F1 - Power Attack (From which all goodness flows)
F2 - Improved Trip
3 - WF (Scythe)
F4 - WS (Scythe)
6 - Improved Init
F6 - Combat Reflexes2
F8 - GWF (Scythe)
9 - Improved Critical (Scythe)3
F10 - IBD*4
12 - Monkey Grip*5
F12 - GWS (Scythe)
F14 - Death Blow6
15 - *7
F16 - *8

The * are places that are feats I'm thinking of, or decided to, ditch (cleaves were ditched)
The ^ are needed for Elusive Target

Here's what I would do. I'm sure that there are people here that can crunch the numbers for the most effective route possible.

Human - Dreadful Wrath
1 - Able Learner (Pick this up early to get the most benefit)
F1 - Power Attack
F2 - Combat Expertise
3 - WF (Scythe)
F4 - WS (Scythe)
6 - Improved Trip
F6 - Dodge
F8 - GWF (Scythe)
9 - Mobility
F10 - Elusive Target
12 - Combat Reflexes
F12 -GWS (Scythe)
F14 - Improved Init
15 - Open
F16 - Open

Open - Pick something that you feel goes with your character. The Mage Slayer tree are awesome feats and definitely worth looking at.

Improved Buckler Defense, Improved Critical and Monkey Grip can all be replaced with magic gear. So you'll have to weigh the benefits of a feat vs spending your gold on magic bling. I would opt for the magic bling route myself. Improved Buckler Defense becomes an animated shield. Improved Critical is the keen property, oil of keen weapon or the scabbard of keen edges. Monkey Grip can be a vest or belt that grants enlarge person. Or buy the wizard a wand and ask him/her to use it frequently.

I had edited my post to add the following, but since Grogg already replied just before I cut it down to here:

I like the ACF from DotU but the only way I'd get that is if I could find a copy of the DotU data set for eTools.

I also looked at Hero Forge (and RPGXplorer) but would need a lot of time to figure it out, plus I couldn't find ACFs or substitution class lvls anywhere, which makes it pointless to change if that was the only reason I might try.

Other then that I'll read and reply to Grogg in a bit then edit this post with a response.

Edit/reply:

Okay, I can understand what you're saying and in a sense you're right. I could probably get the scabbard. IBD was just a way of getting an early compensation for lack of shield, but I can do without that and yeah maybe get the animated shield later. Monkey Grip was as much for flavor as anything else, so I'll figure out later if I want it.

I'd thought you'd missed Dreadful Wrath, but when I look again I see it, oops.

I'll look at the mage slayer tree if we get that high/higher probably.
