Help with fighter equipment.

Starting a new game (we died, again) and this time were starting at level 5. My guy is a Rogue/Fighter who is gona dual wield, sheild and sword (either bastard sword or long, not sure if i want the extra feat). I'm going to take improved initvative, and have a high dex, also max out move silently and hide. Try to get the jump on someone, get an attack in with sneak attack damage, win initvative, get another sneak attack in,then try to flank or just beat them down....

Any suggestions on character build or Equipment? Especially equipment... We will have 6000-8000 gp, dm undecided right now.

If you've got one feat to spare, I highly suggest the Shield Expert feat, and Shield spikes on your shield. This'll give you the +2 AC, the extra attack equivalent to a light mace (1d6, x2 crit), and allows you to swap from Dual Wield and Sword/Shield from round to round, without using any actions. This increases your versatility, increases your AC, all at the cost of one feat (well, three after Ambi/TWF), and maintains competetive weapon damage. I'd suggest Longsword (or similar weapon) and shield spikes, and have the money spent on some +1 weaponry and Shields, since it only costs, IIRC, 1k each (maybe two k, but still reasonable). The shield and spikes are enchanted separately.
