at least its game contents I can use, instead of WotC/Hasbro using the brand to sell me eye make-up or other useless crap, like a pubic hair trimmer.

I wish the rod were an actual 3d rod, but I suppose having it 2d makes it easier if the individual plates have the appropriate game stats
I dunno, that trimmer sounds pretty useful.

I’ve been debating this as I have a couple and I’m still on the fence for the Strahd Legendary B&G every time I see it listed on eBay…been able to resist so far :)
my group and I are using CoS Legendary B&G (we are on our 3rd year running this) and I highly recommend it to run this adventure, the map tube alone (has a ton of maps all gridded for combat and the entirety of Castle Ravenloft) is worth it!! My players love coming to the game and using the props, (the medallion in particular). Honestly, best B&G purchase ever.

Ive gotten a lot of mileage out of this box set alone.

Emphasis mine. Is that really a thing that exists?

If so please tell me it comes in D&D monster shapes, rather than just having a logo on it.

LOL honestly too funny!!!
Lately it just seems that after many disastrous corporate decisions (Im still grieving what happened with Larian studios) they are just padding the D&D brand to anyone who comes to them with a merch idea.
I suspect this is Hasbro pushing them to make more $$$

Liability.

If they included a hand or eye of Vecna too many people out there would invariably start trying to hack their hand or pluck their eye out and replace it with those things.

I mean...haven't you heard about the Head of Vecna and what the PC's did just to try it out without even validating it was authentic!!!
And I would not be surprised if someone actually tried to hack off their hand and eye and then it shows up on the national news and a new Satanic panic starts (Satanic Panic 2.0)

Nah, you are almost certainly comfortably in the majority. Most fans can't afford it, can't justify the cost, or would rather spend that amount of discretionary income on something else. This isn't a dig at those who do buy this. There are those who might turn their nose up at a set like this but spend lots more on miniatures, dwarven forge terrain, software, commissioning art, fancy game tables, rare-earth material dice, etc. Most fans are not spending thousands on D&D. But there there are enough niches in the hobby, with enough people with enough disposable income, for enterprising creators to make money catering to them. That's a good thing, even if not all the things are attractive or affordable for most fans.
I've been having chats with other gamers and we are starting to suspect that the real profit is in the gaming accessories as the books were never had a huge profit margin and that's shrunk even smaller now thanks to the paper shortage and distributors making an even worse mess of things.

I expect that, ultimately, for WotC, the profit is increasingly found in subscriptions

Do long game sessions turn your hairy nether regions into a fetid swamp?

Buy the D&D Chuul genital shaver today for three easy payments of 50 GP and let this trimmer be the tireless guardian of your personal empire.

Terms and conditions apply. Do not use near the ocean, large bodies of water, or subterranean aquifers. Hasbro is not liable for injuries arising out of aboleths making psychic connections to your trimmer.

This. I might not see the value in one of these B&G limited edition sets, but I'm sure a lot of folks here would look at the money I drop on Reaper and Dwarven Forge and think I was nuts (they might be right). All these things are optional - you can literally play D&D for free. So, this set might not be for me, but I'm happy it exists for those who want and can afford it.
