Critical Role Here's The Cover Of The Explorer's Guide to Wildemount; Plus It's #15 In Amazon Bestsellers!

While Amazon may have revealed the title and description of The Explorer's Guide to Wildemount earlier, it had no cover art. Barnes & Noble, on the other hand, has the cover but at the time of writing no title or description. Here it is! The official announcement should be coming later today. In the meantime, the book - which has not yet been announced! - is already #15 in the bestsellers...

The official announcement should be coming later today. In the meantime, the book - which has not yet been announced! - is already #15 in the bestsellers chart for all books on Amazon, based only on pre-orders. That's pretty astonishing for a book which 'officially' doesn't even exist yet (although the announcement is expected later today).

In 1987, at the San Diego Comic con, while buying the original Forgotten Realms boxset, I overheard someone say “ that setting will never sell, Greyhawk is written by Gygax, this is based off some Dragon Magazine stuff”.

This could be no different.

I know MTG fanatics that love playing in a Ravinica Campaign.
While I may never run a Ravinica game myself, the book is a great bestiary, and I love the NPCs and monsters.

If the bestiary part of this book is a bit better than 5e Eberron, ( quanity-wise, would liked some more Rashakas), I will be happy.

Probability Magic, how can you pass that up?

Likewise an English language sourcebook.
But while a lot of FR stuff has been translated into French and German, none of the CR material has. I can only assume that the non-English-speaking market for Critical Role just isn't big enough to make it worthwhile. The many FR novels probably greatly increased that setting's recognition level. WotC certainly is doing the right thing in catering to the tastes of CR fans, but I just wanted to point out that the global RPG market is quite vast and diverse. For example, I have been working in Europe for some time and nobody in my gaming group watches CR (although all of the players understand English quite well).

Meanwhile in Europe:
Amazon UK: Explorer's Guide to Wildemount is #17 in Books.
However, it doesn't appear at all in the lists of Amazon France and Amazon Germany.
Same in Italy, not yet available. OTOH, by making a search for Wildemount on Amazon.it, you get what looks like soft porn with werewolves... :p

So I learnt something. I started to watch the 'what is Wildemount' vid on DDB. And it's not Will-De-Mount, it's wildmount. Why is there an E there? :p Is it Olde?

However if it is used in y games it will be Will-De-Mount

Matt's enthusiasm is infectious in this vid!

Aha I see where the E is from, it's from Dunamancy. Which is not pronounced dun-a-mancy but dune(doon)-a-mancy ;)

Well, who knows what may be happening in Wildemount. I can just imagine the players encountering a "wolf pack" consisting of a bunch of buff young guys running around shirtless.
