Heroes of Shadow's Feat Preview

Why should there?
I remember many warforged and other racial feats that let you replace one of your powers with a racial power.
Shades and Vrylokas can do this without spending a feat for it. Win?

Not to mention that they qualify for any feats that require a shadow power with out taking a shadow class or multiclass feat.

I'm eager to see the final form of the feats, as I wrote most of them (all categories except for Implement Expertise and Revenant, plus Tainted Wounds).

I guess you can't talk too much about your work on the book and I hope you can after it's release, but I'm really curious as to what limitations you had. A lot of feats seem highly situational, more situational than they would be useful. In an age where certain feats seem near mandatory ("feat tax") before taking options that are situational, were you asked to really confine the feats to the Shadow theme or situational uses?

Ki expertise might be the first printed feat that's affects only core rules since essentials. Unless the assassin has ki powers? Pleasantly surprised.

Actually, the Executioner can add his Ki enhancement to his ranged poisons attacks.

The Vampire also likely uses the Ki implement. The Vampire level 1 daily, Swarm of Shadows that was previewed has the implement keyword. I highly doubt it's anything other than a Ki focus (though it could be dagger or "weapon you are proficient with", but wand, staff, orb and the others don't fit).

Ah, so I guess my theory of any Post-Essentials product still holds true. We will not see any link to products that are not going to be printed again so someone who started with Essentials will not see a need to find those old products.

Dear Santa,

I've been a good boy and still give my hard earned gold coins up as a monthly tithe to the dragon. In your future design endeavors, please make races, feats, powers, and paragon paths more powerful so I may play with them. Thank you.

I wonder if perhaps Spectral Step was meant to be phasing instead of insubstantial. The name of the feat doesn't reconcile with its function in its current form...

I know it sounds odd, but I'd like to see vampires get Holy Symbol as an implement.

Vecna, Raven Queen, and even Erathis (vampires are usually depicted as being very cultured after all) all kind of make sense to me. And if they're supposed to be vamps trying to be the "good guy," you could make a case for almost any of the gods, really.
