Hi Hi Puffy AmiYumi (The TV show)

While I admit I was hoping for a true anime, this Flash based show has at least two things going for it, in my view:

1) It's FAR less annoying than current girl based cartoons

2) Chance to expose some young girl to Japanese culture...and culture is always good even if it's a rock band.

I will say I'm less than a fan of J-pop, Teen Titans theme song not withstanding. (But I do dig chicks that can ROCK!)

Wait, I've said this before, haven't I?

Seriously though, I wasn't too impressed with the bit I saw. Their singing, while okay, didn't grab me, and neither the show's visual content nor actual plot (that I saw) grabbed me and made me want to see more. Maybe I'm just the wrong demographic.

Probably. They are aiming for the same demographic as say Totally Spies, Atomic Betty and/or Powerpuff Girls. Plus trying to grab some fans of J-pop.

And yes, it's not TRUE anime. It just has one thing anime, j-pop band as it's theme, much like Gravitaton (only based on an actual licenced/signed band.)
