The stigma of the race was why I opted to try my hand at one, then I kicked myself in the butt due to the lack of info I had on them besides the MM.

I do appreciate the help on this one....

Honestly, having played a Hobgoblin paladin, I can truly say that they are a tad more powerful than the standard races. Social stigma only goes so far as a restriction.

The hobgoblin's +2 Dex, +2 Con and darkvision is way better than a half-orc's stats (a race that suffers the same sort of prejudice).

I think hobgoblins are not powerful enough to be a +1 race, but too powerful to be a +0 race. As a rule zero, I would either make them a bit more powerful to be a +1, or make them a bit less powerful to be +0.

Just my humble opinion...

So besides the +2s to the stats and Darkvision 60', is there any other abilities the race has as a racial trait?

Almost finished the char sheet and this is the last detail I am waiting on before shooting it off.

As Dr_Rictus said, they get a +4 racial bonus to Move Silently.

Also, a Hobgoblin's favored class is Fighter.

FYI: info on their racial traits can be found in both the Monster Manual (pages 119-120) and the SRD (http://www.opengamingfoundation.org/srd/srdmonstersh.html).

LOL :) It's not a big deal. The Dragon Mag ECLs aren't official extensions to the rules. They're just playtest suggestions. You know, where the people that actually get paid to develop this crap don't do their jobs and instead hoist it upon the community as if it would be an honor to participate it doing their work for them? ;)

Actually, I don't really have much of a problem with the ECL +4 of the half-dragon template, so long as you're big enough to have wings. If you're not big enough, I'd place it around +3.
