It's really jarring when you read a series, and an author just suddenly kills a character. Not even a significant character, but a three-bit "Barely given a name and said a half-dozen things" character. It's just startling when you see it happen in a series where the author rarely if ever kills anyone but the bad guys.
I just wanted to share that "Woah!"
