Holy Hand Grenade

Insofar as cost of such a stunt, if the group is 9th level, it's just a hop, skip, and a Planeshift to the middle of the ocean of holy water on the first plane of Celestia, a hop back to the prime, and a teleport back to home base. Much more time and cost effective.

Heck, just do that stunt with a couple of portable holes or bags of holding, and go into the holy water business! (wouldn't the local church be ticked off to beat all?)

Where WOULD one get all the silver to cast that many bless waters anyways?!

Note to DMly self...NEVER allow players to determine the correct tuning fork to pull the Celestial Water Harvest stunt. Let them wait until they can cast Gate, then as soon as they pull the one-action Lich or Fiend gank, it's time for Styx Fogeddaboutit Pellets all around!

(like a previous poster said, it turns into an arms race pretty quick).

I'd just stick with the item description, and have the "holy" disperse from the water when the dust of dryness hit it. It's a much higher level spell effect anyways.

Great idea!

Note to my players: go ahead; try it. If it doesn't work, don't be surprised.

/thanks for pointing this out. Now I'm prepared. :D

So the idea is to absorb 100 gallons of holy water, then throw the pellet at an undead, which will cause the pellet to break, releasing all 100 gallons of holy water on the undead.
The better way of doing this is for a character with high Bluff skill to convince the undead that he's suffering from heartburn, and that the pellet is a highly effective antacid tablet. Then, after he swallows it, punch him in the stomach.

This tactic is effective even if you use non-holy water.

I think that 10d4 is in the right ballpark. IMO "immersion" in holy water is quite different being merely thoroughly soaked. YMMV.
I agree with the 10d4; the holy water will not wrap all the way around you like full immersion would.

glass.

Your ingenuity and raw malice has me both impressed and appalled. Good show, sir.

I find that by allowing potentially abusive tactics on the caveat that if abused the same tactic will be returned ten-fold, the PC's use such techniques sparingly. I'd let them get away with 20d4 in this instance.

Ha!

Excellent tactic. I'll see how well it works and get back to you. ;)

Hey, Drowbane. Your character ate bad, um, chaos fishies. Now his tummy hurts and his chest aches in a burny way. Joox has the perfect pill for what ails ya. Interested?

Yeah, but in this particular group, the character who perpetrated the arms race would undoubtedly escape scot-free and everyone else would suffer. But I like the way you think.

Nice try, but the Kinslayer dines only upon the Clergy (preferably those of Lathander, Pelor, Ra, or "other sun god") and Good Outsiders. :p

edit: now, if that annoying pixie-vulture-thing managed to bless his own blood...

Didn't Faith use that tactic on Angel?......

I like the Constantine method best -

Step 1 : Set up ritual circle that temporarily transmutes holy water to beer.

Step 2 : Convince Devil to have a drink with you before killing you.

Step 3 : Disrupt ritual circle.

Step 4 : Profit!
