D&D (2024) [Houserule] If Sabre was a new weapon type, what should it's mastery property be?

The weapon mastery for a Sabre should be:

CUTTHROAT: on a critical hit, the target instantly dies on its next turn if it hasn’t been administered a Medicine skill check in the interim. (Is it still too soon for Clint Malarchuk jokes?)

I've always had the idea that Sabre is a weapon that's very much like the Rapier. That it's a weapon that's bigger than a Cutlass (which I'll say is the "same thing" as a Scimitar) and can be wielded with speed and precision:
Martial Melee (One-handed)
Damage:
1d8 Slashing
Properties: Finesse

But should it's weapon master property remain Vex? Vex remains the safest choice in terms of balance and the least complicated one, as it's what the Rapier already has.
I know it can't be Nick because it's not a light weapon in this case. Slow currently seems to be only other choice allowed based on weapon property prereqs.
I think Sap and Slow fit here, as the Slasher feat is basically these Masteries but slightly augmented. I think Vex makes it too similar to the Rapier, as it would just be a damage type difference instead of being both a Mastery and Damage type difference.

I think the Sap and Slow Masteries fit here, as the Slasher feat is pretty much these two Masteries but slightly augmented. I think Vex makes it too similar to the Rapier mechanically. The Shortsword and Scimitar have different masteries which will affect the way a person will build their character, damage type matters much less here. I feel it should be the same here.

The real world point of a saber, and similar curves swords, was less likely to get stuck.

Thus I suggest a new mastery.

Skirmish
You no not provoke opportunity attacks form the target until the end of your turn.

Otherwise I'd vote for slow.

In a way couldn’t the Sap Mastery also be flavored in a similar way to this? You cut the person they have disadvantage on their Opportunity Attack similar to how the Speedy Feat works. You could even hit, run away to provoke the opportunity attack, then hit them again after they attack (Assuming you have Extra Attack) to reapply Sap.
