How can I walk softly and carry a BIG sword?

but do Strongarm Bracers stack with either of these?

Powerful Build states that it stacks with effects that change the subject’s size category, so I'm inclined to say that yes, it would work. Also call it a tentative yes on Monkey Grip also, but I'd really have to re-read the feat before I could say for certain.

Good luck ever finding a huge magical weapon just lying around, though. And at that point really start to expect house rules to be implemented regarding its use in close quarters and the like.

What iconic fantasy heros particularly? I really want to know - honestly I can't think of any myself, but I'm probably not using sufficient fantasy references.

forgive the poor spelling.

Guts from berserk, Nightmare/Sigfread from soulcaliber, Auron from final fantasy, Arngrim from Valkyrie profile.

also for everyones amusement...

Just because Power attack gives too much does not mean exotic weapons have to follow suit.

oh? so everything should suck in comparison, and thus get no use?

Both of them specifically affect weapons one size category larger than the character.

If you make each thing progressively stronger, that's a mistake too. Power Attack should give 1.5x but they round up to 2x. Now 2x Power Attack gives +4, so they up the larger weapon damage to some number +5 or up just for Monkey Grip?

It isn't much solace to the crazy-ridiculous-sword guy, but it is worth noting that a Monkey Grippers damage is not negated by the elusively-worded (but not on the section where it negates power attack) Elusive Target feat, so he'll still kick an Elusive Target guy's ass.

Monkygrip though, is far better then a fullbade, as a large greatsword is 3d6=10.5 average damage. A fullblade is only 9 average damage. The average damage of a greatsword is 7. That makes the difference of a great sword and fullblade a difference of 2 damage. Thats well in line for a exotic weapon boost in my opinion. So, again... how is the penalty of -2 on attack balanced? how are they balanced then with everything else in the game? I ask again, how is the -2 balanced? I care not for what the rules say about weapon sizes especially when they are a side effect to 3.5 rather then a designed function to balance the game. If its not balanced or fair why should i care?

That's why a Fullblade is a Large Bastard Sword (1d10 -> 2d8 after a size increase), so you can use it in one hand with Monkey Grip and the EWP feat.

I had a feeling this was based on more Anime style than fantasy (as in novels, etc.) or even history.

A greatsword (in D&D) covers a wide range of swords that fall into the same category (historically), some of which are indeed larger than others.

Hmm... maybe that makes it four versions?

Because my second printing of Sword and Fist doesn't allow for a Medium creature to wield it with one hand or two. It just says "It's too big".

I'll try to post text when I get home.

I'd like to see that.

For reference here is the 1st printing text:

“Fullblade: A fullblade is 18 inches longer than a greatsword, and is too large for a Medium-size creature to use with two hands without special training; thus, it is an exotic weapon. (Medium-size creatures cannot use a fullblade one-handed at all.) A Large-size creature could use the fullblade with one hand, but would be assessed the standard -4 nonproficiency penalty to its attack rolls, or with two hands as a martial weapon. A Large-sized creature with the Exotic Weapon Proficiency feat could use the fullblade in one hand, but a Medium-size creature must use both hands even with the feat. A fullblade is also called an ogre’s greatsword.”

Ah, right - thanks for reminding me!

Second Printing: Huge 19-20/x2 2d8 Slashing Exotic Melee Weapon.
Fullblade: A fullblade is 18 inches longer than a greatsword, and is too large for a Medium-size creature to use at all. A Large creature could use the fullblade with one hand, but would suffer the standard -4 nonproficiency penalty to its attack rolls, or with two hands as a martial weapon. A Large creature with the Exotic Weapon Proficiency feat could use the fullblade in one hand with no penalty. A fullblade is also called an ogre’s greatsword.

And, of course, it changed again in A&EG.
