How can you shrink a Hill Giant?

Is there a reduce person-like spell to reduce monsters? Would it really be so bad to let reduce person do that given the fact that it's a touch spell?

Just use Psionics. Compression :: d20srd.org

It's personal only and has 1/10 th the duration, so it's a lot more limited than reduce person, but works on any creature. Even if not a psionic character, you can purchase tattoos of compression. Keep in mind you pay double* to get a personal targeted power as a tattoo. Psionic Tattoos :: d20srd.org

In 3e use 1st level Wizard Spell Reduce, it shrinks a single target by 10% per level upto a max of 50%, that will make a Hill Giant mansized, note it will still have Hill Giant HP, AC, but will not be able to wield giant sized weapons and therefore its weapon damage will be normal. It gets a Fort save and the reduction lasts a minute per level.

So basically in 3.5 terms that would be a "third level" first level spell, since 50% is a size category and you need five levels to do that. I wonder why it doesn't exist any more. It was a touch spell, right? What level do you think an area "reduce monster" would be?

In 3e it had a range of Close 25` +5` per 2 levels, same in 3.5e changed to Reduce Person but still allows spell to work as a Hill Giant is a Humanoid, Reduce Person,Mass is a 4th level spell and works on multiple targets within 30` of each other.
