How did you celebrate NY Eve?

I watched a movie with family until 11:40. Then I got so busy showing my younger cousin Neverwinter Nights we just turned on the TV at exactly 12:00 AM (my atomically correct computer clock, anyway). Didn't get to watch the ball drop; we just saw a few minutes of festivities until we switched back to what we were originally watching on TV - BRING IT ON :/ ;D

Oh well. NY Eve was more about hanging with family than celebrating the coming of the NY. It wasn't until 'round 2 AM that the TV went back to the celebration shows (after BRING IT ON we saw SUBURBAN COMMANDO starring Hulk Holgan ;D).

my wife and i decided to go to zenkoji temple in nagano city, japan, where literally tens of thousands of people wait in an unbelievably long line in order to enter the temple first thing new year's day (i.e. after midnight). quite a crush but very exciting really. We entered the temple amidst the ringing of the bell (they ring it exactly 108 times - we are not sure why...). afterwards we settled in with some hot amazake (a delicious sweet porridge-like drink) to watch the crowds who had yet to enter the temple.

Our gaming group got together. We would have gamed but one person was out of town visiting her parents, and I have a big session planned that nobody can miss. It was a series of movies, light drinking (These are devious), and fondue. We'll have to reschedule the gaming, which is good because I'm not quite prepared

I would have loved to game, but I ended up with a couple of friends watching "Taken" by Steven Speilberg during the whole night, 8 hour in front of the TV

Slept my way into the new year, just as I've done almost every time. I'm in the Happy New Day camp - every day

Celebrated with a marvelous gourmet dinner with my wife after working most of the day, then spending the rest of it together. I had to wake her up (as I have to EVERY year ) to wish her Happy New Year, and then I watched Robin Williams' guest appearance on David Letterman.

Not exactly partying with 20 naked women and Jack Daniels until 6 am, but it's MY New Years' Eve, and I liked it!

Played LOTR Risk for the first time with my son. Creamed him good. Wife, daughter, and goddaughter all here too. Happy 2003!
