How do you deal with "RPlayer's block?

If I see a player going through this, I usually try and talk with that player one-on-one. In a lot of cases there's something I can do as a DM to make that character more enjoyable to play. Usually talking together helps the player come up with goals, a plan for advancement, etc. This happened with one character for a player who was new to D&D (but not new to role-playing). All in all, I think the character is now an integral part of the campaign with a definite role.

Well, I had a chat with the DM, and we decided to give my character another session. I just got back from the game, and I was a lot happier with the results.

I don't know what the difference was this time, but I just got more into my character, and could feel how things were going.

That happened to me that time I drew the Sun, Comet and Star cards from a Deck of Many Things. Got real into my character... *snicker*

All kidding aside, perhpas there isn't really a formula for RP. Sometimes you're up for it, sometimes you aren't. Might be entirely to do with outside influences like stress. Other times you just get tired, and game is long and boring and you got Civ III waiting at home.

Anyhow, glad to hear you got your RP legs back.
