How do you disable the DING! in PCGen?

Nathanael

First Post
I finally got 3.0 working, thanks to Cergorach, but now I have one more wee small problem...

How do you turn off that annoying DING! when you switch tabs?

It sounds like an error ding, but there is no error and the programme continues to run fine. I've looked through settings. Did I miss it somewhere?

Oh, and while I'm asking questions, what does the lst converter do?

And why won't it allow me to use the point purchase method for ability gen anymore? It keeps telling me I'm out of points but it won't keep a point total when I enter it in...

point buy

The reason I think point buy is not working for you is you can not have any class levels added to the character before using the point buy system.

The reason is because by the rules if your INT goes up after you level it does not retroactivly effect past class levels the same way that an increase to CON would.

Nathanael i am not getting the beep on my winxp box, but I am not using 3.00 or the very latest PcGen.zip from the link I gave you. If you want email me and I will send you the PcGen.jar that I am using and see if that works for you.

I am currently using an alpha from earlier this week.

my email is mfranco@digimarc.com

Thanks for trying Franco, but I'm using 3.0 and it insists on DING!ing at almost everything I do. Turning the volume down is only an interim solution at best.

Can anyone else give me some love on this subject?

Leo? Mynex?

It takes the .lst files that are still using the old tags or format and converts them to the new tagged format.

This function works but I had customized .lst files for certain prestige classes for my campaign. After using the converter I still had to go back and manually change most of the entries because of the way the new classes are built.

Before version 2.71 (I think), the classes were defined in one file. The class skills were defined in a separate file, etc. Now the class file includes the classes and their skills in the same file. This is not converted by the .lst converter.

Make a backup of your file somewhere else before you start mucking around in the .lst files. Its not that working with them is hard but it is time consuming to figure out their format. Using the converter will save you some time but you will still have to look at the new file format to verify that all the changes are correct.

Good Luck.
