how many are using the new power cards

I'm sure a market for power cards exists, it's just unlikely that anyone who posts on EN World is part of it.
I am in fervent agreement with this. I believe there are (at least) two target markets here:

1. People who do not spend a lot of time online, are unlikely to subscribe to DDI, are unlikely to search the net for power card templates, or have the inclination to make their own. These people might well benefit from packs of pre-printed Power Cards.

2. People who live online, and who are either already subscribed to the DDI, or who have had a selection of power card generating utilities bookmarked for months already. These folks are likely to hang out on ENWorld, and probably aren't the target market for the pre-printed cards.

Well done to WotC for trying to catering to both target markets, I reckon.

I'm considering buying a set for my wife (I DM), but she's the only player who doesn't cut out her cards from the CB. She prefers to keep the sheets whole and play "bingo" with poker chips.

I'm going to pass on them as well. The DDI power cards are superior in every way other than the fact that the boxed power cards are sturdier. I agree with others who have said these cards would have been more successful if they had been released early on.

I guess my biggest gripe about the boxed cards is the fact that they will soon be rendered obsolete by updates etc.

I also prefer DDI. But if that's not for you, my feeling is DDI>Power Cards>do-it-yourself.

This, totally, agree 100%.

It's not that they're a *bad* product. They're not. I bought the warlock deck just to see what they look like. However, the DDI is TONS more cost-effective, plus, the character builder does all the maths for you. :-)

Dozens of hours of work to make them yourself? You have a different definition of "better" than I do!

I have to agree. Especially since we're in a "rotating DM one-shot" phase, and doing that every single week would get old really fast.

I'm a big fan of things which mean less work for me.

I doubt it. They always have character sheet packs and "official" dice, after all, even though both seem to be obviously pointless.

Ya, its this. Though it seems like just the thing to sell through the local FLGS...and as those go...well so go a lot of things.

Actually, they would also make good gifts, especially for that especially disorganized player.

Well, I don't have a printer or a DDI subscription, so the cards are appealing to me...but it'll take a cheaper deal than ten bucks per class. Is there going to be a deck for magic item powers too?
