How Many Beers per Gaming Session?

We mostly do not drink, as nearly all of us have to drive home afterwards. We have 4 smokers though.

About once a year we have a boozy game (usually rum in our group, 2-3 shots each).

Normally, however, we do not drink and game -- things get strange enough as it is

Sometimes my brother in law brings over a six pack and we'll split it while we play. Sometimes not. Our wives don't really drink at all, let alone during the game; I can't speak for our last player, who joins us via the call function on Windows Messenger. I think because he's technically "alone" he abstains, though he'd normally be the one acting as an enabler in person.

Well, when we drink beer is 7+ for sure.

I drink 0-4 beers per game session; most often 2.

This does not vary depending on how many (N)PCs I'm running, so I'm a bit confused about "beers per PC". If you mean "beers per person", I can only answer for myself, not the rest of my group. Some drink more often, some less.

I know some folks and some groups do not drink at all, and others treat game night as a "beer & pretzels" type atmosphere. AFAIC, there's no right or wrong answer here. Just curious if imbibing a few drinks is the norm or not. Ergo, a poll.

The question: How many alcoholic drinks does an individual in your group, on average, have during a typical gaming session?

Note: We're talking individual averages here. So if you have a five person group, and one guy drinks 5 beers while no one else drinks any, the answer insofar as this poll is concerned would be "1". Capisce?

None.

Sometimes our group does dumb things, but sometimes we need our brains working at 100%.

Sometimes players show up hungover (from the night before) though.

My players have a hard enough time paying attention when they are sober. The one time I let my players tip back a few, dice flew as attention-getters. Which is all fun and games until someone takes a d4 in the eye.

Wow, a much more prudish attitude towards alcohol than I expected.

Prudish? Dude, don't be insulting.

There's a bunch of good reasons folks can choose to not drink at game, and prudishness is only one of them. So far, the stated reasons are practical.
Nobody here has stated that for them, it is about moral uprightness or the like.

I GM in a pub, I usually have 2 pints; some of the players don't drink any beer though so I voted 1.

So do I. If it's the Black Horse in Rathbone Place on Mondays, it's the same pub!

I normally have 2-3 pints, as do most of the others, although there's the odd one that just drinks diet coke.
