How will this party do?

Agreed. And unless it doesn't fit RP-wise for your dwarf, I'd recommend that everyone get elven cloaks and boots ASAP; this group has potential to be an awesome stealth team (the dwarf is the lug nut, but a mithral chain shirt with silent moves can help that greatly).

Good idea, and it just occurred to me that I might not even need a wand of Summon Monster as Bard's have those spells on their list, but that will have to wait for later as he will pick up Healing Spells first.

The dwarf will make up for a vareity of the problems mentioned above (sorry, misread that part initially). Stability and the ability to wield a medium greatsword or greataxe covers a wide range of the circumstances mentoned. The downside of his movement is that he'll often be forming a front-line all on his own, since he can outpace the gnomes and his focus is melee.

Some great advice here. I think you guys are going to be fine. If you do hope for the dwarf to "hold the line" then it might be a good idea for him to get a reach weapon and go the combat expertise-improved trip route. Remember when you roll stats he wil need INT 13 to do this.

Although it might seem like a wasted feat, depending on how available cure wands are to purchase, I would consider having the bard take craft wand.

Important to remember that bards can cast spells in light armor with no armor penalty. Since your bard is the jack-of-all-trades, he will probably end up being the second lineman alongside the dwarf. Start saving up for that chain shirt and mithral buckler shield ASAP, or invest in mage armor wands. :) A whip would be a nice choice as a secondary weapon... entangle, trip, then with no bonus to dex your rogue can stabby stabby the fallen opponent to high heaven. A whip dagger would be a decent choice as well; though I think you can't trip or entangle with a whip dagger, it does 1d6 damage with a 15' reach and can hurt armored opponents.

I like this team. It should be fun to see what kind of mischief you can get into.

Sounds like an interesting group. You should have fun. :)

Just a reminder for your friend playing the bard: a bard does not have to sing, not even for the so-called bardic music ability. His bard can recite poetry or give stirring speeches instead. He could even be comedian and tell jokes, riddles, or limericks. He could also be a juggler or acrobat. Lots of ranks in tumble might be handy. :D

Yeah, I'm looking forward to reading of their exploits.

The groups first game should be this Friday, so I will post on this thread what happened. :)

Sniffles: Yeah, that would be good, expecially since the Bard's Player in real life likes to juggle.
