Huge printing error in my Eberron!

aye. Sucks but is common enough. I had a darksun Thri-kreen book like that back in the 90's.

Go to your store and show 'em and get a new copy.

You are claiming that 40% of ALL books are put together in such a miserable and slipshod fashion?????

Sounds to me that it's much more a matter of sloppy work and complete disdain for the customer than "a common publishing error".

Ahhh - that's the stuff.

The answer is yes - WotC hates you for buyinmg their product. They are eating babies and probably sniffing the dandelions as well.

I love blind hate in the morning - it smells like....victory!

"Common enough"? Is that the same as "40% of a run"? I think not. This shows a vast and complete lack of respect for the consumer.

No it doesn't. If they knew and released them on purpose it would, or if they didn't replace bad copies it would. What it DOES show is that the bindery is in for a world of hurt, and that WotC is doubtlessly appalled and embarrassed by the mistake they had no control over. I'm sure they'll make things right for the consumer.

Blaming them for doing this intentionally seems kind of silly to me.

My, but you're certainly quite narrowminded. Remember, anybody who dares to raise the LEAST bit of complaint as a consumer is indulging in "blind hate". It is our OBLIGATION as consumers to mildly, meekly, and happily take whatever crap is shoveled out, for any squeak of complaint is "blind hate".

I'd rather not be a mewling suckup, myself.

Actually, the contract that WotC has with the printer would have a redress clause covering what happens if more than X amount of the print run is botched. No need for a lawsuit, as this eventuality is pretty much covered.

Complaint is one thing. Saying that WotC has "a vast and complete lack of respect for the consumer" because of circumstances completely beyond their control is quite another.

I can see both sides here. Certainly consumers have a right to complain about defective product. At the same time, however, if the printer's proofs and advance samples all looked fine, it's not normal procedure for a publisher to hand-check every copy on a print run! This is definitely going to come back to haunt whatever printer was used to print Eberron, and have some fallout for WotC's staff.

Easy to be frustrated, but I'm sure an exchange program will come up shortly to make this problem right. We once had a copy of our adventure "Escape Into Darkness" repeat the first half of the pages in the second half in about 15% of the run. It happens, but it's definitely not good and the publisher should work quickly to correct it.

Ooohhh - keep going - you can do better!

'complete distain for the customer' - that to me translates as blind hatred. Do you really think this was on purpose? Or that WotC won't string up their printers (since that's who made this mistake) with rusty barb wire? I think you need to step back and get a little perspective. Printing errors such as this do, indeed, happen all the time. You 'stat' of 40% of all books getting this error is completely baseless. Have 40% of all of WotC books had this error? Of course not. It happened to 40% of one book's run. I have seen this happen to many, many books (but I worked in a bookstore for several years). Heck I've had university texts with this kind of error (now those are had to get replaced 4 months into a course!). Usually once the printing machine goes haywire, if it isn't noticed by the printer then all the books after the foulup will be defective.

Now be a good Dogbrain and fetch me breakfast!
