Huge sigh of relief...

One of my older sisters knows my boss at Subway, and was instrumental in getting me an interview. Yesterday she told me that my boss had told her that he wanted me to cut my hair. I was pretty upset at this, because I've been growing it out for about 1 1/2 years, and it's getting pretty long. So, just before I was about to get a haircut, I decided to call my boss and ask if I could try to find a better way to hold my hair back so I didn't have to cut it. It turned out that I don't have to cut it after all; he had just been joking with her and didn't mean it. I was understandably happy about this! It would have been very very bad if I'd gotten my haircut after all this time because my sister made a mistake, so I'm happy it worked out.

Bah, I'm in my 30s and have to maintain a professional appearance and demeanor at work, and I've kept my hair even having to wear a tie.

Tie it back, that's half the battle.

My work does not mind but...

I recently got all my hair cut off :( , it was all one length and way past my shoulders. Everyone, with the exception of my wife and my father (who both incessantly nagged me about getting it cut) thought my long hair looked good and were generally disappointed to see it go.

I'm torn about growing it out again. I'm 35 and a grown man so whatever my dad says is pretty much background noise (though I love the man dearly) but my wife is a problem.

My dilemma; to grow it out and look cool and not see my wife naked ever again. Or keep it short and not need porn. hmmmmm.

Jester: Congratulations! I hope to achieve a similar feat, but I am willing to remove my hair if it's necessary to get/keep a job.

Mystery Man: I should think that that'd be an obvious choice! Sucks that your wife didn't like your now-gone hair.

John Q., the next time I pull a foot long hair out of my Jared special we're going to have a little talk. Capiche? :p

I've had "long hair" for 15+ years now. Like someone else said, tie it back, you'll be fine. besides, if your job at subway asks you to cut it, make sure you point out that they let the women have long hair. Is subway an EOE or not?

I've brought that up a few times on various jobs over the years and you'd be surprised how quickly they'll back off.
