I can't believe how badly Wot-X screwed up D&D 7th Edition. We waited all the way until 2050, and THIS is what we got?

I am especially disappointed in the designers for making D&D Within mandatory. Now every player has to buy their own AR dice skins AND the ones the other players bought, or it's just going to get weird.

Also, the new ranger sucks.

Yep, 36 years since 5e was launched and our tables are still playing with paper and pencil and real dice (or, when necessary, the online equivalent of form fillable PDFs and Owlbear Retro and... real dice we roll at our own desks using the honor system). Still works well for us!

I am STILL WAITING for the return of a proper selection of polearms. How can any self-respecting gamer experience TRUE player agency without at least two dozen distinct polearms to choose from?

Just because computers track them doesn’t mean 12 attributes was a good idea. Nor the 4 different kinds of bonuses/penalties. And replacing Int with the phenological spectrum is pure pandering to 2032-vintage grognards.

Setting-wise I’m mostly okay with things. Apart from the thing with the lone hippo. What is up with that? Does every dungeon really have to have a marshy area for PCs to get full experience? I know we used to joke about the gaming police, but Pinkerton’s ability to DDOS non-compliant tables isn’t cute.

Right on, @MGibster - what about smelly brutes from other cardinal directions? I’ve seen Samoan bouncers, this isn’t just hypothetical.

People said Disney was going to save DnD when they bought Hasbro and made 6e (I was pretty tired of 5.85), but now they're putting out 7e to accompany their new theme park ride and I really don't need an edition of DnD whose primary purpose is to literally transport you to The Realms from the DnD cartoon. That place really sucks to live in.

Obviously, we all hate 7e. But the good news is that it's brought a ton of attention to the 3rd Edition Revival, aka 3ER. Ever since 7e was released, this 50 year old game (and it's many clones) has surged in popularity. Heck, there's a bunch of kids playing 3e style games now that weren't even born when it was first released.

I have no idea what Paizo was thinking with Pathfinder 4e, though. It's way to much like D&D 6e.
