I Died!!!!!!

Enchantress

First Post
I just had my first death experience. My soceress was up against a Black Dragon, and I didn't stand a chance. If anyone is in need of money I am hiring assasins to go and kill creepingdeath. Why? Because he is my DM and he is responsible for the murder of my character.
P.S. I think I need a hug.:(

Probably. Who keeps track? I've been playing since the 1970's almost nonstop. (I fondly remember awaiting the 1e Player's Handbook being released.)

There was a period where we used to play hardcore 1e and characters were kept on 3x5 cards so one wasted less paper when destroying the deceased character.

I'm sorry for your loss.

I can (barely) remember the first character that I was attached to that didn't make it. In some ways, I wish it still felt like that when a PC died - puts more tension into the game.

Are you playing a homebrew campaign or one of the standard settings? We are doing a one-off over the holidays. I can't help you with vengeance against your DM... but hunting down the black dragon might make for a fun one-off. Give us more details!

I personally look at each character death as a bright new oportunity to reach down and see what wild new charcter idea I can come up with. The crazier and the more work it creates for my DM the better (especially if I really liked my last character, hehe) j/k.

Seriously, D&D is classically less character attachment and more trying to beat the odds, to survive, and emerge gloriously triumphant with a sack of gold on yer back. It's alright, you can always make her again, at some other time, another game, and see how she progresses THIS time, in THAT particular world. Roleplaying is a contoinuous circle, it never ends....unless you let it.

Enchantress, not that it might mean much, but it sounds as though you'd be the player I'd be thrilled to be gaming with.

Condolences on your sorceress; sometimes things happen. Oh - I take it raising isn't an option?

I feel for you, Enchantress. I've had to deal with (at least) 5 characters dying every single session so far this campaign.

Of course, I am the DM, but darnit I like my monsters!
