I need Undead

Here's the situation:

There is an artifact attracting undead to it. Due to time constraints I've had precious little time to come up with a force of undead and a group of helpers for the adventuring party. Any help with this would be much appreciated.

The adventuring party: Gestalt campaign, avg level is 8-9, with 6 characters total. They will be leading an assault on the artifact. They are quite cocky, but they have a lot of power to back it up.

Group of helpers: At least a few high level clerics (of Pelor) as these are needed to perform the ritual on the artifact to stop it. Other forces of good would be nice as well.

The horde of Undead: There should be a ton of undead. At least one "mastermind" type and a good assortment of nasties. I expect the clerics to tear through a slew of them, but not all.

I'm going for a 50% mortality rate on the part of the players as they were the ones who got the artifact going in the first place... and they deserve it!

The session is on Tuesday.

Any chance you'd consider using a Death Master? (From Dragon Compendium. They are evil spellcasters in service to Orcus, Demon Prince of the Undead.)

I'll consider anything, but if it isn't undead, it has to be able to survive amidst a horde of undead - both intelligent and non-, weak and powerful.

I have access to almost every book, so plot away!

Umber Hulk Skeletons or Zombies collapse part of the idea, dropping people into the midst of Zombie Hydras and other weak undead! Since this part of the undead horde will be underground, they'll be shielded from initial AoE and turning attacks.

Vampiric Medusa archers.

Don't forget a Hallow with Desecrate on the area. And give the skeletons and zombies armors and weapons. You'll be enjoying the look on the PCs faces if they roll turn check after turn check and now and then a single skeleton runs...

Wights with class levels have made a pleasant surprise in my games... especially in a horde of 50 or more zombies, skellies, ghastaaas and ghoulies.

They're a little silly, but an Ulgurstasta from the Fiend Folio (p 180) just might suit what you need. Gargantuan undead maggot thing that spits a necromantic acid, eats people and then regugitates them as skeletons.
