D&D 5E [IC] Creamsteak's Princes of Elemental Evil

Tolan climbs down the rope after Damien, and walks up to the beast, inspecting it more closely. Four of his arrows found their mark in between its plates before it finally fell, not to mention further abuse from his allies. Clearly it was a hardy creature. What were they using it for?

Dent left the eastern door alone. He jerked a thumb over his shoulder at it. "Locked," he said to no one in particular. He crossed the room and tried the western door, not bothering to listen this time.

Damien climbed down the rope into the chamber below, giving the dead creature a wide berth. He slung his crossbow over his back and called forth his pact blade, leaving one hand free to cast spells if needed. Noticing Carradoc examining the door, he moved over to assist.

OOC: If applicable, providing assistance to Carradoc with picking the lock.

The cage doesn't appear to have anything other than refuse. Dent's exploration reveals a hallway going north and south. Stairs down to the north. Further passages to the south.

Carradoc and Damien are once-again able to figure out the way past this surprisingly difficult and enchanted lock mechanism on the eastern door.

OOC: Positions of characters are not accurate, but I thought more map would help.

"Passages to the west. And a set of stairs. What's behind the eastern door, you two?" Dent meandered over to Carradoc and Damien, who'd unlocked the western door. He pushed it open.

OOC: Does the cage (at W 8-9) have a working lock mechanism? I presume there is no obvious key, but if we can close or lock it, we can perhaps prevent being threatened by one half or another. If we want to head East (through the locked door that Dent has found) we can do so, but perhaps we first secure the gate if possible.
