Thaliss, in what seems to be self restraint but is really him casting a cantrip and then a spell, closes his eyes and mumbles unintelligible words. He then wipes the spit off his face, looking straight into the courier's eyes and says telepathically to him, but for all to "hear". "You should not have done that! But I will give you another chance, before I send your soul to an eternity of torment. Guide us to the queen; this is what your commander wants. If you don't, aside from wishing you had done so for the rest of eternity, we will return to the spire, and kill every living person and animal there!"

The courier senses fear for a mere second, though something calculating seems to pass through her eyes in that same fleeting moment. "I can show you the way. It is a long, dark path. North of here... in a cavern. Traps and feral avian guards. I can show you the way."

"How far?" asks Maighan briskly. "Will we need to resupply before leaving?"

 

[Creamsteak]

"Knifepoint Gully, maybe a quarter mile."

 

[Shayuri]

"Good. Thank you."

She looks at the others. "I suggest we convey our friend to the nearest settlement and turn him over, then make our way to Knifepoint Gully."

"or perhaps we head there first, and then have him show us where the traps are?" Thaliss responds verbally.

Telepathically, for his companion's minds only Letting him go will almost certainly guarantee an attack from the back, with him alone or with reinforcements. I say let him lead the way

"I sincerely doubt he will be leading us anywhere good for us," Maighan points out. "Leave him in a cell in a town. Surely there is one nearby that has suffered at the hands of these elemental cults. Let them have him."

Telepathically, Thaliss responds why go through the trouble of going to town. As a highborn in a lawless land, I can pass judgement on him. Death. This is also the safest path for us. Are we in agreement. Thaliss will wait for the apparent consent, or lack of opposition from his companions before blasting the cursed courier.

"It is not to my taste," admits Carradoc, still slightly shoved at the treatment of the eagle. "But I have no standing to object. My concern is repercussions from those who would believe we have acted excessively."

He sighs.

Thaliss answers Carradoc telepathically, and includes Maighan on the response You are right my friend. The eagle was a threat, and attacked us, so its elimination can be justified. Less so with the courier. Turning to Maighan, he continues telepathically To which settlement do you propose we head to hand-in the courier? And would you be able to find our way back here?
