"Do we press on, then?" asks Miss Imogen after she has collected what arrows she can, and given Dellrak and Kasqa reassuring hugs for still being alive.

"I see why we might want to take this ship," -- she looks around a t the ruined hulk -- "but I'm not sure how well we'd be able to control its direction, given the shape it is in."

"We are in your debt." insisted Captain Bravewing, "We could not have survived this attack without you. If you can help us to get the ship into make-shift order, and continue to feed us those berries until we can regain our strength, then I swear that we will carry you safely to your destination."

"My friends may need some time to recover to start with. To start with, it looks like it has been a while since you have had a good meal. Let me see what I can pull together for you."

With that, Miss Imogen does her best to maker the rations they have more appetizing [prof: cooking tools]. She knows that the Goodberries are filling and provide nutrients, but their tast is bitter, and she wants these people to feel, if only for a moment, they are back in civilization.

It has been so long, she thinks, remembering the wonders of the town where she had met these companions. How long had it been since she has thought of her Uncle? In any case, unless others make a move to leave, Miss Imogen will help as she can.

With the udead threat gone for the moment, the tabaxi continued to free the canvas from the trees. Chrysagon helped the crew to wrap poor Brax's body in a spare scrap, and the crew rested.

It was a process, unhitching the war wagon's horses and roping them to the farmer's wagon, hauling it over and setting it right. There was fortunately minimal damage to it from being overturned, and by the time the ox was hitched and the horses were back on the war wagon, everyone was anxious to depart. The farmers were grateful, but they insisted on continuing south.

war wagon? Ox? Farmer?

Rodrigo shook his head, and opened his eyes. He had gotten so exhausted by the fight, and so relieved by their victory, that he had briefly hallucinated.

Legend
Two days passed. With the help of the Sticks, progress was made quickly. The crew recovered, for the most part, from the worst of their ordeal. Chrysagon managed to turn away any hungry ghouls that came underneath the trees, before any got the idea to climb up. Canvas, wood, and nails were salvaged from the worst damaged parts of the ship, with much abandoned, while the bow-section (which was in the best condition) was converted into a smaller, triangular craft. As Ra-nas grew stronger, he took more of an active role in the new craft's design (his father was a sky-shipbuilder.) Nhar and Veliod spent their time sewing the scraps of canvas into a new, spherical shape.

"We will need the control rod to be removed from the stern-section." Captain Bravewing informed the Sticks, early in the process, "It was connected to the wheel, and is pinned under the broken hull where it rests against the bough of the tree. I am afraid, if we remove too much of the hull to get at it, that the whole stern-section will fall. The rod contains the magic we need to inflate the balloon, and to coordinate the sweeps."

(By "sweeps", she indicated four large flag-like "oars". They were made of long poles with canvas wings, and were designed to swivel about on the sides of the ship. The original ones were most vulnerable, and had been destroyed in the crash. The swivel-mounts had been removed from the mid-section and added to the bow, and Ralx had constructed new ones, with Harb's help in finding good, slim straight trees to replace the poles.)

OOC: Small skill challenge: Anyone who wants to be involved, give me two checks that you imagine will be useful in getting a two-foot silver rod out from under heavy, but removable wood without knocking a precarious structure over. Feel free to ask questions in the OOC.

Neurotic

I plan on living forever. Or die trying.
OOC: Tabaxi are good for quick climbs and darkvision (for being in the hold without risky fire). Myrral doesn't have physical spells...but he can inspire people during most critical parts of the operation (in addition to fine work help and translation)

Myrral prepared his nets so that they catch something falling (possibly a crewmember) and as they close to swing under the side branch to which the guide was fastened. If control rod falls and is followed by the whole ship-section, it should help. And it could save someone. The nets are one under the other so should catch two things in theory.

Myrral and the hunters helped with climbing and securing the unbalanced parts and worked with the crew in making it as secure as it could be.

Myrral had an idea to lower the risk of losing the control rod. He used his clawed nets and put them under the stern trying to position them in such a way they grab whatever falls inside and then release, swinging away from anything following that first something. One could see him clambering all over the tree, occasionally hanging from his legs upside down or hanging one-handed trying to stretch enough to reach with one of the legs some branch or other.

The tree under the ship-wreck was deeply gauged by his claws, but all the climbing, swinging and jumping around seemed quite easy for him. The other two helped inside and, while the strength and darkvision helped, they are still of the catfolk, better suited for climbing and running than lifting. But crawling into tight spaces, pushing from the inside or climbing on the side of the hold instead of traversing broken bottom still made them useful.

Dellrak welcomed the healing, and at the end of the day, he spent his remaining spells to create goodberries. He handed them out to anyone still injured.

((Everyone should be fully healed.))

Dellrak pitched in with the work, though as a dwarf he wasn’t too keen on being so far off the ground, especially after what had happened to Kasqa. He helped with finding a secure branch on which to set the tackle needed to raise the silver control rod, a branch not rotten or likely to give way under the strain, and then added the grunt work needed to pull the rod out.
