"Reports we have heard of the Warlord of Mezro prove true, and we accept both your protection and the generosity of your escort."

Miss Imogen is contrite, and does not look to her companions on this. She hopes that through the night it may be possible to find a means of resupplying her arrows, and some other supplies. She knows not to mention that here, of course.

Dellrak followed the others as they went into the yuan-ti’s throne room. He frowned a bit at Imogen’s prostrations. Dwarves didn’t go for all that bowing and scraping. Still, he remained respectfully silent. No need to get their heads chopped off, either. It seemed this snake king had a stake in getting this death curse ended, as well.

“Thank ye f’r any ‘elp ye c’n provide,” Dellrak said.

Legend
"So be it. You are to be my guests." declared Ras Nsi and a servant who had been cowering behind the throne struck a small gong. A muscular warrior entered the throne room, followed by slaves baring silvered food trays. Behind them came a man with a drum and one with a shawm and three scantily-clad dancing girls.

The slaves brought around the trays, which were loaded with fruit and dried meats (whose origins were best left unquestioned). The small band played lively if strange sounding music, while the girls danced (their dark skin occasionally caught the light with a shine that revealed their scales, and they seemed unnaturally flexible for human-looking women).

Ras Nsi did not eat, but Yahru and Yassah seemed happy to sample the food to "prove" it was not poisoned. Water was provided and declared to be fresh (though it was not as cold as one might prefer.)

As time passed, more slaves entered the throne room and offered to give oil massages, grooming, and bathing (quite publicly).

Neurotic

I plan on living forever. Or die trying.
Myrral declined the bath, but accepted grooming. He barely ate and drank no alcohol at all, keeping to the water. He avoided small talk and answered only direct questions. While they may need these people, these were slavers he heard about from the dead.

Ussal ignores the slaves, he cannot take off his armor in public. He does make his helm retreat from the face, as opposed to poor Yahru and Yassah who had to remove theirs.

Ussal eats and drinks freely, immune to poisons as all of his kind. He pushes slaves away, no comfort for him, but he does enjoy the dancers, so rare a sight in these days of disfavor.

Dellrak eyed the food, though when others ate to no ill effect, he partook as well. He had an iron constitution, but he wasn’t going to risk it just to prove something. He also partook of the alcohol. He was a dwarf, after all. The scantily clad dancing girls were pretty good, but they needed some hair on their chin, he thought. He was more than happy to get at least a rub down to get clean of the tropical dirt and sweat, though he didn’t disrobe completely, and very much enjoyed getting his beard washed and combed.

Miss Imogen accepts whatever hospitality is required for courtesy, but is much more interested in a good night's sleep, free from insects and roots and dehydration other distractions that have kept her from feeling a proper rest since the group had first entered this jungle.

She excuses herself after eating some meat soon after the dancers begin, though she is aware enough of their talent when she departs, and holds them in a blend of admiration and pity.

Miss Imogen unbinds her hair, and scrubs her scalp. There is relief and slight pain as her hair comes down.

Legend
The festivities eventually wound down, and the Sticks were permitted to bed down on the beach of the underground river, by the entrance to the Throne Room. It was damp, but so was everywhere in Chult, and the running water cooled the air in the cavern to a temperature that almost felt reasonable. The Sticks slept as comfortably as they could remember.

OOC: If it isn't obvious at this point, the Sticks get a much needed Long Rest.

In the morning (it was difficult to tell exactly what time of day it was, but likely later than they normally rose) they packed their things and returned to the surface. (Evidently the hydra had been satisfied by its meal, as this day there was no sign of it.)

The air above hit them with a wall of heat, and it was raining and windy. They took stock of their puzzle cubes, which Orvex (the guide and translator that had worked for the Thayans) explained were somehow involved in unlocking the gates to the Tomb of the Nine Gods. Between the ones that the Sticks had collected, and the ones that the Yuan-Ti had taken from the Thayans, they held eight of nine.

One was still in the possession of the Red Wizard who had escaped the slaughter.

"We could see if she has returned to the Walled Compound. If not, I can leave a message for her there," suggested Orvex, " Alternately, as their goal was to enter the Tomb, we can head there and see if she will chose to find us."

OOC: The Walled Compound was where the Thayans made their camp.

Miss Imogen, refreshed, awoke with frost on her face, which she brushed aside. She was not hungry, but drank some water, and combed out her heair before resetting it. When she saw Orvex, she asked if it was possible to get supplies -- dried food, water, arrows -- before they left.
