D&D 5E (IC) Fitz's Folly

Ussal put on the pendant and he felt his own vision shift. It was unsettling - there appeared to be eyes watching from every shadow and the faces of his allies seemed twisted and cruel. However, a path appeared before him that seemed to be leading away from the obelisk toward the west.

"Whoaaa!" he exclaims as he shifts his coils to adapt to the new moved reality.
"Thisss way." he points to the west "The path is revealed. The reality ssseems shifty ssso if sssomeone would walk bessside me and watch for pitss and other thingsss that might be...hidden...in thisss ssight, pleassse."

Whoever walks by him, the brood bodyguards walks on his other side.

"I'll walk with you, Ussal, I was to be your scout anyway." Myrral looks at Thayan wizard "We still don't know what we're getting into."

Ussal led the group westward to what appeared to be a solid cliff wall, covered in vines and surrounded by a thick overgrowth of brambles. He could see a path through the brambles that shifted aside as he approached. deep in the shadows behind the overgrowth was another tunnel into the cliff-face.

As the group approached they disturbed a swarm of bats that flew out into the light before disappearing into various crevices along the cliff wall. The ground of the tunnel was littered with bones of varying shapes and sizes, disturbed not terribly long ago by the boots of a group of humanoids. At the end of the tunnel was another door, its archway lined with human skulls.

At the center of the large stone door were nine cavities in a square, three rows of three. Spaces to use the puzzle cubes as a "key".

"This is promising," said Zagmira, "But probably dangerous."

"Everything here is dangerous. And we can only hope this isn't one more obviuos trap when the real entrance is hidden nearby. Would you all check around while I study the cube places?"
Ussal asks the group.

OOC: what about the gargoyles?

The gargoyles remained high overhead, but they moved along the cliff face to positions where they could better watch what was going on below. It was very seldom that anyone saw them actually move. One would just look up to see that they had changed position. Until finally, they leered down on the group from above.

The immediate area was choked with vines and brambles. It was difficult to do much scouting, and harder still to find anything of interest.

When the going is tough, Miss Imogen can freeze the brambles and pul them aside. the roots come with them and the rock beneath seems scoured clean.

Round 0

Dellrak followed after the others. “More puzzles,” he grumbled into his beard, shaking his head. As Ussal studied the indentations, the dwarf took his axe to the vines and brambles, trying to clear things a bit, helping Miss Imogen.

Dellrak and Imogen cleared much of the brambles, revealing a stone mosaic that showed images of the trickster gods facing off against their sworn enemy, with Unkh the flail-snail sitting calmly, alone, in the middle of the fray.

"Shall we place the stones and see if we can't get into the tomb?" said Zagmira impatiently.
