Dellrak sighed as they undoubtedly started another trap or something. He moved up to inspect first the lever and then the skull to see if he could spot the trap or the mechanisms or something.

Wait! he called out. Don't pull the lever just yet. Let's see if we can prop up this door first, said Chrysagon, we don't want to be trapped between them like last time.
Chrysagon went out to look for a long and sturdy branch that could be used to secure the first door.

"I don't think we have the time for that given the hourglass. Yessah, remain outside this time."
Ussal joins the human woman.
"Given that the cubes disssapeared, we might have to sssearch again for them."

I don't like the look of it. It must be a trap. Chrysagon scrambles to find something to prop open the first door.
Maybe a couple of his javelins will do. Chrysagon readies himself to place the javelins under the door if the outer door comes down again. That should give them enough crawling space under the door if the javelins can hold the weight. He looks around the door frame if there is a good spot to place the javelins.

Legend
Zagmira rolled her eyes, "I would hate to have to gather the cubes again."

She ordered the orc to stand beside her and for Orvex to stay back. It was unknown which was the safer course, and she preferred a bodyguard to a scribe, trusting her own abilities to gather and interpret information.

Qawasha remained outside. As much as he was loathe to watch Kupalue face danger without him, he felt unfamiliar with this new, grown version of his old friend. He was more at ease outside with the plants and animals, rather than caught underground. He hoped that his friends, old and new, would be okay.

Yassah stood back, as ordered, along with the two broodguards. They looked about helplessly and hissed, showing their apprehension by periodically tasting the air.

Chrysagon placed a few javelins where they might take the weight of the slab if it were to come back down, but he doubted that they could possibly hold.

Dellrak rushed forward and he tapped about the lever and the skull, listening to the echoes in the wall behind. The shifting chains and counterweights that held the first slab aloft masked the softer, hollow sounds that only an expert could hear. He was certain that the sand in the glass would be long drained before the hidden weights finished shifting. But what did that mean? The lever most likely would cause the weights to shift 'tracks'. The timer must indicate the point at which there was no return: If the lever was up when the timer ran out, one thing would happen. If the lever were down, another.

But it was impossible to determine (with limited time) which way would be "good" and which way "bad". Inwardly Dellrak scoffed: Judging by what they'd seen so far, no choice would ever be truly good.

Still a decision needed to be made, and quickly: Up or Down? Pull the lever, or leave it be? The sand was nearly gone.

I plan on living forever. Or die trying.
Myrral unwillingly follows as he has no way to mitigate the damage. And with The Curse it is hard to undo.

“It’s now or never,” Dellrak said, and he grabbed the lever and yanked it up.

Legend
Imogen and Weed struggled with the lever, pulling it slowly. Impatiently (having heard a few of the last pawls click behind the walls) Dellrak shoved them aside and cranked the lever. When it clicked into place, a grinding noise could be heard as the hourglass retreated into the skull which clacked its jaw shut.

There was a momentary pause and then a terribly loud clacking noise and everything fell - the stone slab at the entrance, the stone slab blocking their way forward, and the stone floor beneath their feet.

The floor opened along a central seam, swinging to one side and the other, revealing a twenty-foot fall onto fiendish-looking iron spikes. Ussal, Zagmira, and her bodyguard Ghorakk tried in vain to rush toward the walls as the floor fell from under them. They tumbled into the pit, landing hard among the spikes below.

Dellrak held onto the lever as it dropped with its stone slab, becoming part of the north wall of the pit. He held fast with a grunt as it stopped after a relatively short six-foot fall. Imogen managed to grab onto his short legs as she fell past, and she felt Kupalue's leafy vines wrap around her waist. The three dangled from the north wall in a chain.

Chrysagon had be trying to shore-up his javelin supports when the stone slab there had fallen from the place where it had lifted into the ceiling. His javelins broke, but the kept the slab from fully sealing the tunnel, leaving about a foot of open space. He was just able to grab hold of the ledge, wedged between the heavy weight of the slab that threatened to break through what remained of his bracings, and the top edge of the southern part of the pit.

Myrral had only just entered the hallway when this had all occurred. He was near enough to Chrysagon to be blessed by the Paladin's aura of protection. As the floor collapsed, he twisted in the air and landed relatively safely on his feet between three of the iron spikes.

OOC: Ussal takes 15 damage; Zagmira takes 44; and Ghorukk takes 24; Everyone else is dangling.

Miss Imogen, holding onto Dellrak's legs, knows that the first order of business is to get out of the way. She urges Kapalue to climb onto her back, and one he has done so, she attempts to swing her legs up to catch hold of the lip of the drop, and then pull herself up. She wants to get her weight off of Dellrak so she is in a position to help him, and to take Weed with her.

OOC: Acrobatics 1df20+7=19.
