D&D 5E (IC) Fitz's Folly

"By the Saint's o'the Mountain," Dellrak swore in awe. There were so many and Rodrigo was about to be swarmed under unless he got in there quickly.

Slowing his run a bit his battle axe in his right hand, he reached for the elven handaxe at his belt. The blade was thin mirror-like elvish steal not the thick grey metal of the dwarves. In this case that was good, because it slipped out from under his belt that much quicker as he drew it with his left hand. Use that same motion he side-armed it across at the zombie trying to get in behind the bravo.

Not missing a stride or seeing if the weapon hit he continued on and brought the axe down hard across the things back. As it turned to him he side stepped to put his back to Rodrigo. "Weren't gonna let ye have all this fun alone." the dwarf said raising the axe before him in both hands, to help defend himself against any attacks.

Rodrigo's eyes widened in alarm - the few zombies had become a horde, and he was in serious danger of being overwhelmed. Worse, he had failed to link up with Brother Chrysagon properly. He could see that the undead were having a hard time touching the heavily armored paladin, recoiling from him. But he had no such supernatural defenses. He remembered his father's advice "when your position is untenable, move"

He spun, setting his cloak flying and blocking the zombie's view for a moment. With a complex set of steps and slashes, he danced out of the zombie's grasp.

Action: disengage
Move: besides Chrysagon (k8 I believe?)

"I have your back Brother Chrysagon - we need to hold a moment!"

Dellrak & Rodrigo

Dellrak rushed to aid Rodrigo, burying a thrown axe in it's chest, and following it up with the axe in his other hand to it's arm. The creature took both wounds in stride, and it reached out to Dellrak to scratch him with it's other hand, raking him across the forehead. Worse, another zombie leaped on him, biting his arm.

Rodrigo slipped away, moving to the other side of Chrysagon and one of the zombies chased him, turning it's back on Dellrak as it went. As swarmed as he was, Dellrak had a good opening against it.

OOC: Dellrak can make an opportunity attack against it!

Dropping his staff, Harb drew forth a wicked looking scythe as he slipped in, looking to dismantle the undead creatures piece by piece if he must. He picked out the most damaged looking of the creatures for his attacks while maneuvering to back up and solidify their defensive line, rather than risk being surrounded. In the end though, he was distracted by their lurching move ments and failed to land a single blow.

Squirrels are evil!

"Looks like'n I'm done in," the dwarf says dramatically, as he continues to hack away (though his swings are not as mighty). "Tell dat pointed eared bastard I'm gonna haunt him till the end o' his days."

Chrysagon, Harb, & Dellrak

Chrysagon's flail sparked as it flew around and crashed down on the zombie. The creature lunged forward and the flail struck it in the back, narrowly missing it's head. It scratched at the paladin, narrowly missing him, and refused to fall, in spite of wounds that would have been fatal to a living creature.

Dellrak hacked the zombie chasing Rodrigo from behind and it stumbled. Harb came up between them, swinging a scythe at the same creature, but it grabbed at the haft and Harb was forced to spend his time struggling to get the creature off of his weapon. A zombie lunged at him from the side, and he was just able to get his weapon back in time to drive the creature back.

The group tightened their line and were able to keep the creatures from irrevocably surrounding them.

The girl's breathing was steady and the boy grew curious at the sound of battle. He shuffled on his bare feet for a moment and then crept out from behind the large fern, sneaking toward the battle to find a good place to see.

The putrid smell of death fills the area and the sickening feel of dead hands grasping and scratching enrage the dwarven warrior. "I will not stop swinging til the All Father takes my last breath from me!" Dellrak roars and raises his axe above him in both hands. "Ye have already fallen once, and fall again ye shall!"

The blade bites into the dead flesh and yet the creature still bites and scratches at the dwarf, as if a huge blade were not stuck in it's chest.
