D&D 5E (IC) Fitz's Folly

The undead dwarf resisted Imogen's cold, but was thumped by Qawasha. It turned on the druid, swinging its axe. Imogen had grown fond of the old Chultan, and she worried that he would be killed, but he blocked the axe with his gnarled staff and glanced away as the dwarf tried to consume his life energy, frustrating its efforts. Weed sent two stones at it, but in its panicked worry for its friend, it released them too early, and they went high and wide.

Ussal tried to shove the dwarf away, but it refused to budge. He moved between the two dwarves, trying to help Ghorruk, and he got an axe slammed into him for his efforts. His armoured encasement kept him alive, but it didn't protect him from the pain and shock of the blow.

OOC: Qawasha did 6 to TD4; Ussal took 12 from TD5's axe.

Myrral healed Chrysagon while he brought down another dwarf with the might of his flail. Both looked up toward the iron-maiden, which hissed and ground gears as it opened, wreathed in smoke and steam. From it stepped a terrible creature. It had once been a humanoid corpse, but the dwarves had encased it in plate armour, rivetted to flesh. It now stood nine feet tall and dragged a spiked chain.

It immediately rushed forward, quicker than it looked, and it swung the chains at Chrysagon, driving him nearly to his knees. Then it swung the chains again to finish him, but Yassah was there and took the blow. The Yuan-ti had tried to stop the chains with his scimitars, but they wrapped around them and struck him anyway.

Dellrak, from behind a pillar, fired his crossbow at the thing. He willed his quarrel with an otherworldly force, and it punched through the creature's armour. The thing wailed as if in great pain, but continued its assault.

OOC: Chrys takes 16 and Yassah takes 23. Ouch. Dellrak did 8 force to TombGuardian.

Miss Imogen is not used to being this close to her opponents. "Qawasha! Back!" she pleads, as she works her way around the creature, to position herself between the dwarf and weed. She focuses all her intention, all her energy, again to chill the fluids within this creature, which already flow so sluggishly.

Qawasha does not retreat but uses the opening Miss Imogen has just left to try to slam his enchanted staff into the dwarf's side, but the effort swings wide. One of Weed's stones hits, though, before it scampers to a safe distance.

OOC: Miss Imogen: move clockwise around TD4 to AD31.
Action: casts Frostbite at TD4, which will give him disadvantage on next round if he fails the DC 12 CON save, and also 2d6=6 cold damage.
Action Surge! Action: casts Frostbite again at TD4, which will give him disadvantage on next round if he fails the DC 12 CON save, and also 2d6=10 cold damage.

Qawasha misses. 1d20+4=11.

Weed Move to AD34
Multiattack 1d20+4 (x2) -- one hits for 1d4+2=6 (down to 3) damage.
continue move to AD38 (just out of range)

"We need to finish thissss quickly. Guardsss. Get down here! Sstrike at the dead on the right!"

Ussal bellows at the useless brood guards. "First they leave their posts and now they are not fighting. Of course, Yassah ordered them not to for some reason. Idiot."

"Ghorruk, there is more trouble behind us. Let's finish this one quickly."

OOC: I just realized I cannot attack twice AND cast attack cantrip. So it's essentially useless without another target. Bah!

Oh no... what a monstrosity! Chrysagon exclaimed. He saw the chain spike coming and put up his shield to block it but remembered too late that he had no shield. His beloved shield was disintegrated when he encountered the magnetic statue a few rooms back. What a pain. Literally!
Unable to parry the blow, it almost brought him down. This was not the time to hold back. Chrysagon focused and swung his magical flail and hit the creature twice, each time sending down Kelemvor's fury. The creature squirmed and recoiled from pain.
Next, Chrysagon called for extra protection and a shimmering translucent shield appeared on his arm.

Action: Flail (Sacred Weapon) attack and damage: 1D20+10 = [17]+10 = 27
1D8+5 = [4]+5 = 9
1D20+10 = [12]+10 = 22
1D8+5 = [2]+5 = 7. Looks like two hits, assuming the AC < 20.
Smite 1: Smite (2nd level): 3D8 = [1, 5, 7] = 13
Smite 2: Smite (1st level): 2D8 = [5, 7] = 12
Smite, extra if creature is undead or fiend: Extra smite damage for undead or fiend: 1D8 = [6] = 6
1D8 = [6] = 6
Total damage: 41 HP or 53 HP, if creature is undead or fiend.
Bonus Action: casts Shield of Faith for +2 extra AC for total AC 18, which lasts 10 minutes with concentration.

Chrysagon: 15/52, spell slots left; zero
Edit: Chrysagon went Nova!

The dwarf again resisted Imogen's attempt to freeze it, and it smacked Qawasha with the flat of its axe while side-stepping his gnarled staff.

While Imogen and Qawasha struggled with their opponent, Weed struck it with a rock and then retreated away down the large room. Next to the bellows, the vegepymy spotted a quiver of arrows made with yellow fletchings. It seemed that the dwarves had been dropping arrow shafts into their fire, and using the metal heads to make rivets. Weed knew that Imogen would make far better use of them.

At the other end of the room, Chrysaon's flail landed twice, solidly on the creature in a shower of sparks. Kelemvor was truly with the paladin here, as the thick armour encasing split open, and a humanoid body fell out. The armour smashed hard as it fell on the dais stairs and lay there smoking. The body that lay among it was mangled beyond belief, but it appeared to have once been a human man, with a now-burnt beard and mangled (or missing) limbs. He coughed and looked about wide-eyed in pain and terror, kept "alive" only by horrible necromancy.

OOC: The creature wasn't fully "charged" because of your efforts to stop the dwarf with the rod, so that was just enough to do it in. The dwarf saved vs Imogen's spells, unfortunately, but Weed did 6. Qawasha took 10. @Neurotic I think Myrral still needs to go? I'll resolve Ghorruk, Ussal and Yassah then.

Myrral moves across the hall where the first tomb dwarf fell and focuses healing energies on their thayan helper. Looking over the battlefield he is relieved that the monstrosity from the iron maiden fell.
"Way to go Crysagon! Hold on!"

He motions with his rattle toward the dwarf standing between Ussal and Ghorukk, hoping to get it to move away without regard for its own safety.

He whispers something under his breath and the magic enhances the whispers to a hair-raising multitude of accusations, cries and threats in dwarven, assaulting the sense of the undead.

Move: AH 27
Bonus: Heal Ghorukk Aura of Vitality: 2D6 = [5, 4] = 9
Action: Dissonant whispers psychic damage: 3D6 = [4, 6, 2] = 12
WIS save DC 14 or TD 5 runs away from Myrral (hopefully into the entangle, but he should provoke two OAs anyhow) - half damage on save

Ussal and Ghorruk teamed up on one of the dwarves, striking it from either side. Then Myrral came up and shook his rattle and the dwarf went wide-eyed, its mouth agape, and it turned its back on them to run away. Ghorruk took a swipe at it as it went, and the thing fell to the ground and rotted away. Myrral offered the orc some much-needed healing magic.

Yassah followed Ussal's instruction and moved to the stairs, calling out in the Yuan-ti's hissing tongue to the brood guards, who slithered their way down the stairs. He slipped in between Imogen and Qawasha and slashed their dwarf opponent with his scimitar. With the big snake-headed man in his way, Dellrak moved southwards and loaded his crossbow. He fired a quarrel into the same dwarf, which landed with a hard thump.

Ussal used his telekinetic power to throw the last dwarf to the broodguards, who leaped upon it and tore it to rotting pieces.

OOC: Ussal did 15, Myrral did 12, and Ghorruk did 10 to TD5, destroying it; Dellrak did 8 and Yassah did 7(3) to TD4, who already went. I'll just say the Broodguards finish it, as there's no sense in running a whole round for the whole party to fight one injured baddie. Fight's done!

Chrysagon tool a step back and stared at the large heap of meat and metal. He could not quite believe that he had destroyed the monstrosity. The skull of the meat heap looked around widely and coughed. Is this thing still alive? he asked Yassah. I can't see a way to save it so we'd better finish it off, don't you agree? Chrysagon lifted his flail again, hesitantly.
